The compiling of the laszip stuff at 64 bits in VS2013 looks doable but is tricky.

So my question is: Can a commercial application include the free programs LasZip.exe and LasZip-CLI.exe in it's installation?

And if so, presumably the installation need to tell the user where these programs come from?

I ask because years ago I had tons of problems with a free open source image program which did not include all the components in its installation. It would complain: "Hey! you have not installed XYZ!" then "Hey! you have not installed ABC!"

I'd like to avoid those problems by installing all needed components myself.

Hello,

it is both my intention as well as my understanding of the LGPL license that you can distribute all three laszip.exe, laszip-cli.exe and LASzip.dll with your own closed or open source software - be it free or commercial - without any problem. I think all that you are required to do is state where you obtained them and what license they are under in your own README.txt of COPYING.txt or LICENSE.txt file ...
