to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
Hello

My first effort in using LAStools (las2iso) resulted in the following errors

ERROR (TINclean): failed malloc for 1679916184 TINtriangles.
ERROR: cannot alloc enough TIN triangles to triangulate 839958092 points.

What am I doing wrong, and how can I correct it?

Hi there,
las2iso operates in-core and is therefore limited to a maximum of around 20 million points.
You have around 840 millions points.
Either you tile your input to smaller tiles or you should use blast2iso with its “streaming TIN” technology to seamlessly process up to 2 billion points in one run.
Best regards,
Jochen @rapidlasso

To all las2iso and blast2iso users out there and reading this post about xxx2iso:
We recently just found out that las2iso and blast2iso are different in the parameter "-clean":
While las2iso interprete this as "clean out all contours with less than [n] points."
blast2iso removes all contours shorter than [n] units.
I updated the *_README.txt files of both tools and will write about this in more detail when shipping
the next release.

Could you provide any details about your computer? You are processing around 900 millions of points. One solution is to tile your data in smaller areas (with overlap) and after you can merge your contour lines.

Could you send the file?
