to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
Dear group members,

Is there any tool to compute strip error between two strips via LAStools?

I suppose to compute, height differences between two TIN meshes relevant to overlap area using LAStools. Then the difference with respect to each mesh gives the degree of mismatch between strips I think.

Any comments or any other method /tool to be followed using LAStools to compute the strip adjustment errors?

How should i call the tool?

thanks

Sana

to LAStools - efficient command line tools for LIDAR processing
Hello,

the tool for computing the overlap between flightlines as well as any alignment errors between flightlines is called 'lasoverlap'.

In my opinion it is crucial to always do quality checks on how well the flightlines are aligned *before* starting to use the LiDAR data for processing derivates. Attached a picture how the result of lasoverlap (here overlayed on GE) will typically look like and the one miss-aligned flight-line is easy to spot.

If you step all the way through the many many pictures of this photo album here

and read all the detailed comments then you will find many sample uses of lasoverlap (including the initial step that is sometimes required to recover the flightline information) including detailed command lines and explainations in the comment section.

Regards.
