to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
Hi all,

I'm planning on automatically adding the lastools version and license information to a log file. I could read it from the generating software record in the header, but ideally I would like to avoid that as its different depending on the tool used to generate the las file. e.g. 'lastile (171231) commercial' vs 'las2las (version 171231)'.

Is there a command that just give we the version information or a file somewhere in the download where I could just pull that information from? I had a look but couldn't find anything.

Many thanks,

Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Simple pass the -version argument to any of the LAStools and you'll get output like the following:
>> las2las -version
LAStools (by mar...@rapidlasso.com) version 171231
Hope that helps
