to Last Hope Weyr
CHARACTER INFORMATION

Common Knowledge: He is the only black-haired person among the family.
His birth is the result of his mother having witnessed a golden flight
of a queen while visiting the Weyr. It is common gossip that his "real"
father must have been one of the bronze riders that did not catch the
queen rider. Despite the fact, Sirai is still claimed by Sireno as his
own flesh and blood and Sirai couldn't care less who his "real" father
is. As far as Sirai is concerned, Sireno is his one and only father.

dark brown eyes that could make a man drown in her sweet innocent gaze.
She was on the petite size of five feet and five inches.

stressed out with her life that she would literally make herself sick
with worry.

hoped that she would one day outgrow her nervousness regarding anything
and everything in life.

Brother: Siris (see-rees), Last Hope Hold, Holdbrat
Age: 3 Winter Birthing Day
Description: Siris has red hair just like his brother Siran. In
addition, he has inehirted his father's almond-shaped green eyes. At
the moment, he stands at exactly three feet and he is still agrwoing
boy.
Personality: Being only three turns of age, it is still a little too
early for him to have a set personality.

Physical Description: In most cases, one would almost mistake Sirai for
a girl not only for his hair, but also with the way he clothes himself.
Sirai's hair is very long for a guy. His waist-length hair is very
silky and shiny that any girl would envy. He usually has his hair up in
a pony tail. However, once in a while, he lets his hair down and lets
it fall freely down his back. During the day, one would notice that
Sirai's hair has a bluish tint. However, at night, his hair is the
blackest there is. Apart from his unnaturally long hair, Sirai has deep
blue eyes that are almond-shaped. The edges of his eyes have laugh
lines proving that he smiles a lot. However, his eyes are very
expressive that one would know his true feelings no matter how much he
hides them behind a smiling face. His eyes are the windows to his soul
with the way that they reflect every emotion that Sirai feels and every
thought that Sirai thinks. Inheriting his height from his dad, Sirai
stands six feet and five inches tall. His is an athlete's body build,
lean and trim. Yet despite his size, he is fast to act in defense or
offense if need be. In addition, he is very well coordinated and rarely
trips on anything. Sirai has inherited his bronze-brown complexion from
his mother. However, one would say that his complexion is perfect being
that his skin is not too fair and not too dark in coloring. In
addition, on his right chest is a very unique birthmark. The birthmark
is lighter in color from his bronze-brown skin and is shaped, oddly
enough, like a dragon in flight. As for his face, Sirai has a perfect
set of white teeth. Which is something that he looks at first in every
person that he meets. His nose and lips are average enough compared to
everyone else. However, make no mistake, his face is one that catches
the eyes of ladies and men alike. And when he speaks, his voice has
such a dreamy quality that most people who are listening are
mesmerized. For clothing, Sirai will wear anything so long as it does
not clash with his look and that they fit him to a tee albeit a little
loosely.

Abilities, Strengths, Weaknesses: Unlike his brothers and sisters,
Sirai has a great love of learning. He started learning to read and
write at a tender age of three turns old. Sirai is a pretty quick
learner and has a talent for remembering things, obscure or otherwise,
better than most people can. However, his best skill is his eloquent
speech. He uses wit, intellect, some sarcasm, and a whole lot of charm
to appeal to people... it's a common consensus that he could probably
convince a Thread to turn around and go back home just by talking to
it. During his free time, Sirai likes to alphabetize things, or arrange
things in color gradient patterns, and hire himself out as a writer for
those who are unable to do so (be it for illiteracy, blindness,
laziness, etc.). He enjoys swimming, and sky-gazing (he's the
head-in-the-clouds kind). He also likes to visit and talk with Artists,
if that can be considered a hobby. As for his faults, one would say
that his low opinion of those who are considered dimglows or deadglows
is a failing trait of his personality. He also thinks that other men do
not compare to his sense of fashion when it comes to choosing clothes
that will not clash colors. And another trait that may be considered a
fault is that when he gets engrossed in his reading, he would normally
ignore his surrounding so you'll have to actually physically disturb
him to get his attention. And last but not least, for all that he would
love to be a dragon rider, he has a great fear of heights because of
the accident when he was younger. He used to get nauseous and in rare
occasions faint should he be given the visage that he was standing on
air or should he be near the edge or a window. As long as there was
solid footing beneath his feet, he was fine, otherwise, he would start
to freak out.

Personality: Sirai has a laid back kind of personality. He is not one
to be found panicking needlessly and usually helps to find solutions to
problems. He likes to take things leisurely almost to the point of
procrastinating although he does get the job done. Sirai is kind of
hard to get to know for he has this unapproachable vibe around him. One
could say that it is a fault of his personality. But, do not get me
wrong, he is the most amiable sort of fellow. It is just that the way
he carries himself puts others off. Once you do get to know him, Sirai
is the kind of person where one could express his or her most deepest
darkest secret and not worry about it being spread around the weyr. He
is a warm and kind person always quick to offer his help. Sirai does
not like to tattle nor does he like people who spread rumors about
others. He believes that secrets must be held dear to oneself should a
person deem you worthy enough to share a secret. In addition, he firmly
believes that promises must be kept and never broken. He has a dim view
of others who do not keep their promises. He is a sure friend to the
end and very protective of them too. He is quick to correct others
about their etiquette and manners especially if they are bronze riders.
One could almost say that there is no joy in his life but he is quick
to laugh at his mistakes and his blunders. And he has an optimistic way
of looking at things in life.

History: It was the early winter of the turn 3335. Aislan was 18 turns
old and she was allowed to accompany her mother when she, Aislan's
mother, went to the Weyr to give her finished weavings to those people
that ordered them from her. It was a crisp bright day and they were
promptly received and ushered into the lower caverns where the weyr
hall was located. There, they were given mugs of hot klah each and were
told to wait for the people who will collect her mother's weavings when
suddenly, a great bellow was heard through out the weyr. Gold Jesarath
had Risen to mate. Aislan was totally unprepared for the strange
sensations crawling through her body. Quite frankly, she didn't know
what was happening to her and that just made her worry more. As time
passed, the sensations gradually decreased but with it she was
experiencing increasing pure unadulterated lust. When she had looked at
her mother, she didn't seem to be in anyway disturbed like she was.
Striving for anything to do, she had asked her mother if she could
explore the weyr on her own, her mother fearing nothing would be wrong
about that let Aislan wander.

As Aislan wandered near the weyrbowl, it was then that she noticed the
graceful body of Gold Jesarath in the air flying without her rider.
Seeing the riderless gold jolted Aislan's mind to what it all meant.
Jesarath was flying to mate. And somehow, Aislan was so mezmerized
about the flight that she unwittingly wandered to where the other
riders had gathered around the gold rider. And of course, as the
winning dragon caught Jesarath, the others slowly unmerged from their
dragon but they were still sexually in overdrive. By pure happenstance,
Aislan was caught in the gold's projected emotions that she never even
knew that one of the riders had turned to her and started doing the
deed with her. Aislan's whole being was being overwhelmed with the pure
emotions and feelings that she didn't even fight back and allowed the
rider to have sex with her. It was rought, hard, fast and over too
soon. The rider thinking that Aislan was one of the willing partners
had left her without any intorductions nor a glance back at her
sleeping satiated form. Aislan felt like waking up from a drugged
sleep. She wondered at her nakedness and at the soreness of her body in
places she didn't even know existed. However, the soreness was not at
all painful but, it left her feeling well... satisfied was the best
thing she could describe. As she came fully awake, she realized that
her mother must be already ready to leave. In haste, she dressed and
totally forgot about what had just happened to her. However, after a
month, it was clear to her that something must have happened because
she found out that she was pregnant and she didn't know who the father
was. Sireno was one of Aislan's suitors who did not mind her having
someone else's child. He was understanding of the fact that things
happen when one is under the influence of... the mating lust of
dragons. They were married not soon after Aislan found out that she was
pregnant.

And in the turn 3336, Sireno named their first born son, Sirai. Sir
from his own name, Sireno and ai from Aislan. Sireno treated Sirai just
as if he was his own flesh and blood. And as the turns passed, Sirai
grew up to love Sireno and Aislan just like any child would love his
own parents. Sirai was a silent child, never one to cry out loud when
in the hands of strangers, especially when his mother left him at the
creche with other hold babies and holdbrats. He learned to walk at a
very young age of ten months old. And just like the children from old
Earth, his first word was Dada at thirteen months old. As time passed,
it was rather evident that Sirai was a very intelligent child. And by
age three on 3339, he was being thought how to read and write by his
Harper of a father, Sireno. In addition, Aislan gave birth to his
brother, Siran. Life went on as usual for Sirai with the sole change of
having Siran as part of their family now. Once in a while, Sirai will
help his mother to take care of Siran, but usually, Sirai will be found
practicing his letters or trying to read one of the hide records in the
hold.

Sirai's love of learning and reading has made him rather too advance
for those children his age and so, we find him in the company of older
holdbrats as his playmates. Sirai thought that those of his age were
not worth his time because they did not understand the things that he
did. Sometimes they, the older holdbrats, played rough forgetting the
fact that Sirai was really young. Therefore one day, when he was barely
four turns old in 3340, while he was playing with the other older kids,
he got accidentally pushed out a window and fell five feet to the
ground. He got a broken leg and arm which both healed nicely enough
without any visible scars. However, since that time, he has been afraid
of heights. So long as there is solid ground or floor beneath his feet
that he could visibly see, he was fine. However, place him near a
window and he starts to freak out; and sometimes ends up fainting
because of his fear of heights.

When he turned five in 3341, Sirai has learned to talk so eloquently
that people especially strangers are taken aback at his wit and
intellect. They would have guessed Sirai as being a child of ten when
he was in fact only five. In addition, Sirai has started trying to
teach his young brother Siran who was only two turns old how to speak
properly. In 3342, his mother gave birth to twins a boy and a girl.
They were named Renolan and Lanire respectively. They were two new
additions to his family. In addition, he now started to attend the
lessons thought to all children by the resident Harper in the Hold. He
would usually want to be the best and the brightest among the group of
children. Since he already knows how to read and write at this time,
the Harper then began to teach him the Teaching Songs and Ballads. Time
passed quickly with his life being in a sort of routine. And only
important aspects in his life remain lodged in his brain like the birth
of another sister who was named, Airen, in 3345 just a few sevendays
after he turned nine turns old. By this time, Sirai has develop a love
for always arranging things either alphabetically or by color gradient.
This habit formed because he would always pick up after his brothers
and sisters who always seem to leave all their toys on the floor.
Sometimes, to escape the hussle and bussle in their hold, Sirai would
venture out alone to swim in the nearby lake and gaze at the sky as he
let himself get dried under the sun.

In 3348 his life was dealt a shocking blow when his mother died as she
gave birth to his youngest brother, Siris, a few months after he turned
twelve turns old. Despite this, Sirai still loved his brother Siris
even if his birth caused their mother's death. Instead of going into
grief and despair, he took over taking care of Siris and his other
brothers and sisters. However, because of his mother's death, he had
formed a deeper bond with Siris for the reason that he, Siris, was the
only memento he had left of his mother. At his mother's funeral, one of
the guests had given a portrait of his mother as a parting gift. He was
so impressed with the drawing that he started to visit and talk with
Artists asking questions of how they made their drawings. As time
passed, since he was taking care of his brothers and sisters, he
developed the habit of always correcting their etiquette and manners
that in the end, Sirai could never stop himself from correcting
strangers in the proper etiquette and manners. When he had turned
fourteen on 3350, Sirai began to wonder why he looked so much different
from his other brothers and sisters. And one day, he asked his father
why it was so. He was rather shocked to learn that he in fact was not
his father's "real" son but someone elses. However, his father
adamantly declared that even if that was so, Sirai can rest assured
that his father claims him as his own flesh and blood no matter the
facts of his birth. After the shock wore off, Sirai got to thinking and
in the end, he didn't care if Sireno wasn't his "real" father. After
all these turns, to him, Sireno was his one and only "real" father.

A turn passed and when he turned fifteen in 3351, he told his father
his lifelong dream of becoming a dragonrider. His father, Sireno,
wasn't surprised and gave his blessing and permission when Sirai set
off for the weyr to become a candidate. However, on his way, a blue
dragonrider passed over head and they landed near him. As they landed,
Sirai was struck speechless at how huge and big the dragon was even if
he was just a blue. This was the first time that he saw a dragon up
close and personal. Before the rider could talk to Sirai, there seemed
to be some sort of conversation going on between rider and dragon.
Sirai waited patiently by the side of the road. He was rather nervous
of why they were just there arguing by themselves. And after what
seemed like an eternity although it was only less than five minutes.
The rider informed Sirai was his blue dragon thinks that Sirai has been
Searched as a Candidate. The rider hastilly helped Sirai to ride the
blue dragon. It was just luck that Sirai was too thunderstruck with the
events that unfolded which was why he did not notice that he was flying
a-dragonback to the weyr. Only the jolt of the dragon's landing onto
the weyrbowl gave him the necessary interruption which made him aware
that he was rather high up from the ground. It was all he could do not
to disgrace himself in front of the rider by fainting dead away. And
so, we find Sirai in the weyrbowl without any idea of where to go and
what to do next.

SAMPLE POST
It was a rather nice bright summer day and they, his family and a few
of his friends, had just finished celebrating his fourteenth birthday.
Sirai was rather quiet during the party for he could not help noticing
that even his little brother Siris looked just like his father, Sireno,
and his brother, Siran. In point of fact, Sirai was the only one in the
family who had black hair. After the guests have left and the party was
over, Sirai could not help but ponder what it all meant. He was so
preoccupied that he did not even go back to his reading of old hide
records. Once it was night and he was sure that the rest of his
brothers and sisters were asleep in their beds, he tip toed to his
father's room. After his mother's death, his father had taken it rather
hard and sometimes, his father just could not get some sleep because
his mother was no longer there amomng the living. He had noticed that
there was a light showing through the crack of the door so he was glad
that his father was still up. Must be one of those nights again. he
thought to himself as he made his presence known to his father by
knocking softly on the door.

Sireno was gazing lovingly at Aislan's portrait and reminiscing about
the past. In a way, he could not believe that she was already gone from
his life. In addition, he missed her in such a way that he could not
even sleep during some nights because he couldn't feel Aislan there
beside him on the bed. His reverie was interrupted by a soft knock. He
got up and opened the door. Ouside, he saw Sirai still up and looking
like he wanted to discuss something of great importance. Smiling at his
son, he asked, "Sirai, my son, what are you still doing up at this late
hour?" as he gestured for Sirai to come into the room and shut the
door.

Sirai did as his father said and came into the bedroom. He noticed his
father was just putting away his mother's portrait. At seeing his
mother, Sirai felt a momentary pang at the loss that the family had
because of her death But life had to go on so he had taken over the
care of the littles when it seemed that Sireno wasn't going to be on
the mend soon. Anyways, he wrenched his thoughts back from reminiscing
and concentrated on the here and now. Gathering courage as if he would
be doing something rather distasteful in his eyes, Sirai blurted out,
the question that have been plaguing his mind. "Father, why do I look
so different from the rest of you?" he asked in one breath.

Sireno was taken aback, he wasn't really expecting to explain things
with Sirai this soon in his life. He wondered what Sirai would think if
he knew the real truth. He and Aislan had discussed about this before
they had married. At the time, it was agreed between the two of them
that Aislan would explain things to her child when the time comes.
However, with the death of Aislan, the plan had gone awry and in a
way... forgotten. Now, however, Sirai his son in everything but blood,
had taken the initiative and asked the question that Sireno had in some
small way dreaded to answer. He tried to visibly gather his wits about
and show that the question was an expected one coming from Sirai but he
was sorely losing the battle in not showing his emotions with his face.

Sirai could see that the question had left his father rather... stunned
was the closest emotion he could see. He wondered if his father knew
the truth of his birth and whether he, his father, would tell him
anyways no matter what the consequences will be with such a revelation.
He waited as he saw that his father was gathering his own courage to
broach the subject.

Sireno tried of ways on how to break the news to him but... he was not
a man to play with words. So, he told the truth in the most simplest
way that he could. "Well son, the truth is, you aren't from my loins."
As soon as he said the words, it seemed a little too harsh even to his
ears.

It was Sirai's turn to look as if he had been punched in the stomach.
He kind of suspected it but to hear the words to bluntly from his
father was rather... unsettling. All his life, he had viewed Sireno as
his flesh and blood father. He didn't really care about the different
physical appearances but being the only black haired person in the
family was rather inconspicuous. So he had asked the question even
though he had begun to suspect that he wasn't really Sireno's son. He
couldn't really talk after the revelation but his father had continued
speaking so he was saved from voicing out his feelings for now.

Sireno continued talking trying to explain the details. "You see,
Sirai, when your mother was young, she had once visited the weyr with
her mother, Aisling, who is your grandmother. It was her first time to
visit the weyr and she was rather excited about it." As Sireno talked,
it was as if Sirai was taken to the time then as he viewed the events
in his mind's eye. "Aisling, had given Aislan permission to explore the
weyr. She didn't think that Aislan would go too far or go into rooms
that were prohibited from her. However, she, your grandmother, did not
count on there being a mating flight. Aislan had taken to wandering
outside the weyr bowl, near the feeding grounds when she got caught up
in the flight. She didn't even really know what has happening around
her nor did she remember what she did during that time. All she knew
was that after a month, she had gotten pregnant and she was so worried
that I would not want to marry her. But I loved her, your mother, very
much that I married her despite the fact that she was no longer a
'virgin'. And not soon after, you were born to us. I had decided to
claim you as my own and given you part of my name to prove my claim of
you to the rest of the hold folks. I know that some hold folk do not
like the fact that there are unclaimed bastards of riders. I did not
want you to have that kind of life nor did I want Aislan to suffer
being outcast by the others should the other hold foks look closely on
your birth. As it is, everybody already gossips about you though you
don't know about them. They all speculate that your father must have
been one of the riders that failed to catch the rider of the female
dragon who had risen to mate. Should you want to look for your 'real'
father, you have my permission and blessing to do so." Sireno finished
telling the tale. He waited for Sirai to ingest what he had said and
wondered what Sirai would do.

Sirai sat there as if frozen. He had listened, unspeaking and unmoving,
to Sireno as he talked about his mother's visit to the weyr. At the end
of the tale, he was unsure of what to do. However, the more he thought
about it, the more he realized that in all ways but one, Sireno had
been the father that he needed. He didn't care if Sireno was not his
real father. And he surely did not want to go looking for a man that
may or may not want anything to do with him. He was fourteen turns old
and in some ways, he was already considered a man. He looked at his
father and saw the anxiety there in his father's eyes. It was the first
time that Sirai had seen that emotion and he ceratinly hoped that it
would be the last. Clearing his throat. he said in a whisper, "I... I
don't need permission or your blssing to go looking for my 'real'
father, Father. I... You... To me, you are the only father that I would
ever need or want." Sirai stated looking solemnly at his father.

Sireno couldn't help the tears that started spillin from his eyes and
falling down his face. Striding over to Sira, he enclosed the lad in an
embrace. Sirai wrapped his own arms about his father's body as he too
started crying and thanking Faranth that he had Sireno for a father
when things could have been very different should things in the past
happen in a different way.
