Google searches only seem to offer solutions that involve editing the registry or renaming/deleting DLL files, which I don't prefer as solutions because they feel primitive for something that seems like it should be a user preference.
I found that I could disable the display of visualizations in MP 11 by opening the Playing now tab, opening the drop-down menu there in the tab bar, selecting the Visualizations > pull-right menu, and selecting No Visualizations.
I decided that I wasn't going to let Microsoft Windows Media Player dictate to me how I was going to experience my media playback and computer resource usage. So I've dumped it. Now I use Media Player Classic. It's a wonderfully lightweight, no nonsense media player and it's free! You can get it here: -

It would be nice if Edge could replace Movies & TV and Groove Music. I've done some quick testing and it already works for webm and mp4, if added support for mkv, avi, and wmv, 3rd party media players would become obsolete.
@cbomtempo Both extensions that you suggested have less than 1 Mb in size, so I don't think it can be considered bloat. Even more when it could be a selling point for Edge. A built-in media player with extra functions like AI generated subtitles for when you're listening to podcasts or watching a video in another language + automatic translation for your language using Bing would be a big selling point, and it would also give lots of data to improve MS AI.
I don't want to be rude, but the browser engine could be used to build "virtually" any application and I don't want my browser to be a media player, a calculator, a text editor, a file explorer, or anything else other than a web browser... Even because someone could implement all those functionalities as a web application or a browser extension.
My settings are Windows Direct Sound (or MME), SB Live! Wave Device and SB Live! Wave Device: Record Master (also tried SB Live! Wave Device : Wave) using an SB Live Value sound card. I have no problem recording something playing in Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic but if I try to record from YouTube or BBC IPlayer I just get a flat line.
I have gone back to 2.0.3 with the same settings and everything works perfectly once I had reset preferences and reentered the options, without doing this I got a flat line in 2.0.3 as well even though the options looked OK
I can get the material from YouTube in other ways, but what I want from iPlayer is not downloadable. As I said in my original post, I have reverted to 2.0.3 with the reset option and everything is working OK for me with that setup. It is more a question of reporting the unusual behaviour. What I really cannot understand is why I can record from another sound source such as media player classic or windows media player but not from Firefox, IE8 or Chrome, even though they should all be playing through the same sound card, with 2.0.4 whereas I can with 2.0.3!
Hi Gale
Sorry but I have reverted to 203 and cannot test this tonight. When I was first trying to work this out I tried every likely combination and pretty sure I tried Record Master more than once with other choices in between, but not simply re-selecting. It is late here in the UK and I will give it a try tomorrow if I get a chance.
and by default it is near the top of the Audacity interface as shown in the big picture on this page:
Note that if you installed the recommended version of Audacity for Windows, the manual is available in the Audacity Help menu.
Having a secure digital signage system is a very important requirement for businesses and schools. Vulnerable digital signage systems can result in digital vandalism and extreme cases can cause physical harm to people in a facility (e.g. false alarms, false emergencies, etc.).
Chrome media players can be locked down by IT staff and digital signage administrators. This feature prevents hackers and vandals from plugging directly into displays or media players and taking over signage campaigns. Chrome media players also provide an excellent barrier from remote digital signage hacks.
A digital signage system will usually consist of more than one media player. Determine how many displays you plan to have around your school, office, or organization. The number of displays will determine the number of media players you will need.
All Chrome media players must be assigned to an Organizational Unit within a G Suite Domain. Additionally, a Device Policy needs to be configured in G Suite to run Chrome media players in Kiosk mode. Instructions on how to set up Chrome Device Management using Rise Vision can be found here.
Rise Vision is a cloud-based digital signage content management system that works effortlessly with Chrome media players. How do I keep music from my collection going without stopping? I'm using pandra for my office and playing it on the speakers so my patients can hear it in the waiting room while they wait. I have "office music" in my collection and have about 5 stations. Anytime I play on station it goes through a couple songs, then automatically stops playing. When I hiit the play button it looks like its about to play the song then does nothing. I'm using google chrome. Does anyone know how I can get office music/lounge music playing throughout the day without cutting off? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like you're using Pandora to play music in a public setting (which is not considered personal use). If so, we have a solution for you. Pandora is available and optimized for use in settings like these through Mood Media, with features like unlimited listening, no advertising, and a media player that can connect to your existing sound system.Additionally, due to the terms of our music licenses, the consumer version of the Pandora service (including Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium) cannot legally be used to play music in a commercial or public setting. Any Pandora listening that isn't personal and private, even for non-profit or tax exempt organizations, must be properly licensed through Mood Media, which fairly compensates artists, authors, composers, publishers and other rightsholders.Use of Pandora in these settings is available only via hardware sold by Mood Media.
