We obtained Temporary Beer Permits for both these parties.

On Friday night, the City Reliquary will be selling beer (I don't know
the price, but reasonably cheap I imagine) to help them raise funds.
Entry to this party is free with a can of food.

On Saturday night, entry is $5 and we will sell beer for $3 for a 12
oz. cup.

Do not bring alcohol to these parties. You will be turned away if you
do so. Our permits do not allow us to have liquor on site at all -
only beer & wine purchased from a licensed distributor. The shows, as
always, are all ages, but you must be 21 and bring an acceptable form
of ID (driver's license, passport or military ID - student IDs are
unacceptable) if you want to drink. We will also have soda available
and we will allow people to bring in unopened bottles or cans of soda
or juice.

I got the permits to protect our interests. Those of you who stayed
late at the Halloween Party know that it was shut down by the cops and
that they threatened to bust me for illegal liquor sales even though I
was not selling alcohol. They said they could because I had open
alcohol and charged at the door. Well now they can't.

The cops came out last time because some assholes were throwing
bottles off of our roof onto the pavement below and against the wall
of a warehouse across the street from us. They covered the sidewalk
on both sides of the street in glass, which took me a long time to
clean up.

I am asking everyone who attends future parties at LRAS to please
immediately find and tell me, one of my roommates or one of my
security volunteers when you see people doing stupid things that will
get our parties (and maybe our art space - like for good) shut down.
I cannot stop the people causing problems if no one notifies me.

The police cannot enter our place without a warrant unless they have
probable cause. People doing stupid things like throwing bottles
gives them probable cause. Don't give them probable cause. That way,
if they do show up, we can keep them outside, I can negotiate with
them out there and we can continue the party with their approval.

I will be roping off large sections of the roof as restricted areas
for future parties at LRAS to prevent incidents like those that have
occurred. Please respect the signs telling you not to enter a
restricted area. If you are seen in a restricted area you will be
thrown out, no questions asked. Please tell me if you see people
going into restricted areas. If every one keeps their eyes open and
informs me and the people helping me of any problems, then our parties
will go smoothly from now on.

Don't smoke cigarettes inside the apartment. There's a roof for
that. Don't loiter downstairs on the street by our door. Don't throw
trash in our neighbor's yard, just leave it on our roof. Don't go
into the private rooms at the back of our space. Please let us know
if you see people doing these things.



I think I've covered all the rules. I appreciate all the help any of
you can give to help keep things running smoothly so that we can
continue to have parties.

I am looking for a few people to volunteer to help me run things on
Saturday night. You will get in for free if you do help. If you'd
like to help, message me at morphe...@yahoo.com . I am not letting
people in for free that do not help.

The Friday night show was set up by the City Reliquary and their
friends so I do not have myspaces for those bands, but Slow/Dynamite
and Maxwell's Demon are returning LRAS veterans and I know that they
are both good bands. Slow/Dynamite is improvised atmospheric rock.
Maxwell's Demon plays catchy songs and the members switch off
instruments just for fun.

The Stoics are shooting a video during their set. They did a great
job last time they were here and are promising a longer set this time
with improv worked into their shoegaze-inspired sound, Guayakill are
a Spanish punk rock band that have hung out here before and they are
bringing their friends Whytambo, a Spanish ska-punk band, along with
them. Paparazzi are coming down from Boston - apparently they are big
fans of Nation of Ulysses and sound like "being on two rollercoasters
at once...with a dick machine." The Genuine Imitations have a very
likeable, indie sound.

I'll be taking a break from LRAS shows for December, so come on out
and enjoy our party while you can since it will be a while until the
next one.
