Tech Note: April 17, 2012

Some users have reported that the Microsoft Windows automatic update for Java affects Lasso.

LJAPI(Java) functionality is enabled by default in Lasso Professional 8.6. Lasso 8.6 and the latest Java work do together without issue - it is believed to be something in the Java upgrade script process that is disrupting this function.

Symptoms of this update issue on Lasso 8.6 include:

  • an error on Lasso start up (in console mode) or,
  • the service "hanging."

To determine if a Java update caused a Lasso issue:

  • Stop the Lasso Service
  • Navigate to: C:\Program Files\OmniPilot Software\Lasso Professional 8
  • Run LassoService.exe
  • Look for Java error in the console.

To fix Java update related Lasso issue:

We recommend referring to this technical note when you are ready to take the Java update.

Your Lasso Support team.
