Selfdamage just sounds worthless. With regular zhuge you get a higher damage output and Thunderbolt is optional. It ferls bad. I got 3 forma on my zhuge and zhuge prime just doesnt even look worth it. This is the same as with tigris prime or sancti tigris.

Yeah it is a bit of a downgrade from the normal one imo as well. Not so much due to damage but purely because it's not silent and I essentially waste a slot on the hush mod (arcane might be useful on this weapon, if I used it...)

First things first: Never use rivens for a comparison.

And really... puncture? Puncture is such a useless damage type and the proc is just as worthless.

Sure, Zhuge Prime's damage is a bit lower, no denying that. But why do you keep bringing up puncture as if puncture was any good?

Most of the weapons in the game are slash. 120% more of 75 is better than 42. 75 puncture overall with a riven or even the puncture mods deals higher damage output over a 42. Accelerated danage spikes and math. If you got a riven with 100% slash and 100% damage it would deal less damage than 100% puncture and damage. Sure you lose damage for a tiny 6% cc. But it is a downgrade on the longhaul of real modding percentages. Plus self damage weapons are garbage. My stug kills me faster than it kills anything else. The delay on zhuge primes explosions cause it to be more effective at killing you than even a tonkor.

The bonus damage isn't all that much. That's what elements are for. And if you can easily remove and ignore armor in the game, why would you bother with bonus damage against armor?

And the hope for a rework... Fire gets reworked soon. Basically the first rework since we got Damage 2.0 (which we got in 2013...)

And why would I ever bother with putting a puncture mod on my weapon? The thing that deals most damage are ticking procs like slash that scale with crits. Or we go straight for damage with elemental combos. And elements don't scale from things like pure IPS-mods.

And I will ask again, why are you so fixated at puncture as if it was any good? (And hoping for a rework, as Stonehenge said, isn't the best reasoning. The question is, why are you going for it NOW, when now it is bad?)

I consider Zhuge Prime an example of good design. I understand why most primes are just better versions of a weapon, but it's not a great spot to be in. Ultimatly it just makes the normal version obsolete. When an upgrade isn't a direct comparable upgrade the normal version remains relevant. We now have two choices of weapon. One isn't objectivly better then the other, it's dependant on what a player wants from their weapon.

A good point. Personnaly, i d like them to be real upgrades, not necessairly at damages and crit chances, but in QoL and comfort use. (Seriously 3.0 sec reload ?) A real alternate version coud be a prisma, wraith, etc imo.

Not necessarily always slash, as there are weapons that just don't work with slash, but puncture and impact just don't matter at all.

Puncture's bonus against armor is "ok", but armor scaling is broken as all hell. So you are always better off removing armor. (Using CP, or corrosive procs)

And Impact is supposed to be good against shields. But why ever bother dealing with shields, if slash procs and poison damage ignore shields altogether.

Zhuge Prime and Lenz are the weapons I look forward most for that mod. Zhuge P modded with fire rate turns into exploding gatling shotgun, while Lenz become literal nuke especially with Mirage. Now if only Lenz can use blast radius mod...

Zhus legacy chu ko nu is harder to deal with as they get them out quicker than Chinese. Mongols have advantage of double production. I would probably also get multiple production buildings up asap so you can match the production of the Chinese.

If you spot multiple archery ranges, make sure to build multiple as well and keep making javs.

If you spot a stable, build a baracks and another archery range and start trainig a few (!) donsos.

Keep spamming javs nonstop as much as you can.

Build walls around your base and infront of the pitmines, in key spots to prevent villager snipes.

Get your ranged armor upgrade as soon as you can afford it, then ranged damage.

Add a stable or 2, make sofas and try to raid as much as possible and/or catch reinforcements.

Meanwhile, try and outmicro+kite his zugs as hard as you can (preferably conq3 level kiting).

Meanwhile cowboom as much as you can afford and build a 2nd pitmine.

Keep hitting the zugs with javs and whenever they come closer, move away, just to hit them again.

Build a forward outpost or two and fortify them plus research arrowslits.

Sofas are also really good against zugenus, as they are faster than knights, cheaper than knights and have bonus damage vs infantry (including archers).

With lots of javs behind them, you should win after the early kite-wars with pure javs (and maybe some donsos for the case of horsemen all in)

English can also do well against this, if you start making longbows early and keep trying to snipe enemy zugs.

Also, walls and outposts help a LOT with arrowslits and fortifications as soon as rams become affordable for the enemy.

Use Khan to scout resource around opponent and guess best location to place the Garden (tend to out of TC defend) and put some military there. That should affect to Zhu Xi build order a bit as have to change to another landmark without good resource income to back-up.

Went to Feudal ASAP, left 5 vils on wood for the whole game, the rest was food and gold. Built 2 stables early in feudal, and then raided his base, cut off reinforcements, and built up enough to assault his main raiding army. After I had a little breathing room, added 2 archery ranges and trained Mangudai to deal with the spears. Killed heaps of zhuges, and some vils, and they tapped out.
