Hello,
a new version of the LASliberator was released that also sets free the new LiDAR point types 6 to 10 that were introduced in the latest LAS 1.4 specification in case they are imprisoned in ESRI's proprietary lock-in *.zlas format (also known as "the LAZ clone"). It then stores them to either of the open LAS or LAZ formats. It is included in the latest version of LAStools that is available for download from

The open source code (all but Esri's clone) is also available on github at:

Below a sample use on a few sample files downloaded from this site

The call below will loop over all *.zlas files from the folder 'locked_up' and will produce a corresponding *.laz file (plus a *.lax spatial index) in the 'free' folder. You will see that the LAZ files (including the LAX files) are over 17 % smaller than the files compressed with the "LAZ clone" from ESRI.
