NewYork, 1930s. Sonny is a former ice cream man who fell on hard luck. While working as a cleaner in a gym, he meets Charlie Smith, a wrestler. The two become fast friends, although they have very different characters, Charlie being blunt and aloof, and Sonny being narcissistic and too prone to womanizing. One day they get hired by a mobster, Angelo, to hit a gambler but they erroneously beat up a US Senator instead, who in turns declares a war towards the underworld. To save them from the heat, Angelo sends Charlie and Sonny to little Italy to work as debt collectors. Here, however, they befriend the Geraces, a poor family, and decide to help them by beating up two other collectors sent by a rival of Angelo, Mr. Colosimo. The event triggers a bitter conflict between Angelo and Colosimo. Eventually the police, led by Captain Mackintosh, intervenes to stop the bloodshed. Mackintosh is initially determined to jail Charlie and Sonny for their involvement. However, when Charlie and Sonny discovers that Mackintosh is somehow implicated with Angelo and Colosimo in their business, he is forced to let them go. Following their acquittal, Charlie returns to wrestling, and Sonny agrees on being his trainer.

The film was originally intended to star the film duo of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, but Hill dropped out of the project as he was concerned about overexposure. Principal photography took place in New York and Rome. The soundtrack was composed by Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, and produced a minor hit with the single Angel and Beans performed by the American-Italian pop duo Kathy & Gulliver.

A new month! A new season! A renewed celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord has begun! We celebrate the fact that the Lord in his risen body is now free to bring the gift of his peace everywhere, to whomever he may wish, and to as many as he may choose to bring it.

They, too, felt lost after your horrible death on the cross. Ashamed at running away. At a loss about what to do next. Scared to death of the Jewish authorities on the prowl. Locked away in some upper room, dreading what might happen next after all their hopes and dreams about you had vanished.

In human negotiations, peace is the goal that we hope to attain after a long process. There may be a cease-fire now and again, but real peace is the fruit of hard-fought bargaining, meetings running through the night, and often many starts and stops.

Jesus has already completed all the preliminaries of this gift. It is now ours for the taking and the starting point of all we are and do. His peace is the sort that sustains from beginning to end, never diminishing, never running out, and constantly replenishing itself from within.

What does such a peace consist of? First, it is his peace, the one he brought to Calvary in the face of all evil and the one he offered to his disciples needing forgiveness for their lack of fidelity during his passion.

It is the peace of which he spoke at the Last Supper, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you (John 14: 27). Not a passing peace based on tenuous negotiations and strictly agreed upon conditions always subject to change. Not a peace based on my life being a success story and all my plans working out in my favor or my health being good and my teeth needing no fillings this year.

Secondly, his peace is greater than all earthly troubles. This is because on the Cross he has already overcome the interior reality of every conceivable disturbance of darkness and been declared sovereign over them all in his resurrection and ascension.

The miracle, or rather the even greater miracle, along with the above, is that he offers that very gift of peace to us. We can have the peace of Jesus in the face of all kinds of chaos in this world, because, as Jesus says, I have told you this (about his disciples being scattered, leaving Christ alone) so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble. But take courage. I have conquered the world (Jn 16:33).

So let us ask for this gift of peace this Easter. It will not only sustain us in our weakness but enable us to discern with greater clarity what paths need to be taken to negotiate the troubled waters of our times.

We need to pray much to be able to access this wonderful Easter gift of the Lord. There is a wellspring within us of the Holy Spirit, who bears this gift to us and sees that it does not fail us. But it is prayer that conveys it to the substance of our daily lives and makes it effective there.

On a natural level we may have to deal with fears and anxieties of all kinds, for such is the world in which we live. But Easter assures us that although these troubles are real, they are passing in light of what happened on Easter morning and which awaits our faith to bring its saving fire, yes, even to our times.

Terry has painted angels in his work before which allows him to explore the closeness of death without going into too dark a place. By painting angels he examines the afterlife and the proximity of death all around us.

A hand-embellished canvas is a unique 1 of 1 original piece.

Editions are produced from a limited number. Once limited editions are sold out, they will never be reproduced and will only be available as hand-embellished canvases.

Our canvas prints are high-quality giclee prints produced on artists' canvas and are signed by the artist himself. Each canvas is given a unique number from the limited edition produced from the original. Every canvas print comes with a certificate of authenticity, also signed by the artist.

Once printed, hand-embellished orders are taken by the artist back to his studio where he personalises each one using either paint, pencil, or pen. He adds colour or detail that is unique to your piece making them an original, one-off piece. These pieces are numbered 1/1 and also come with a certificate of authenticity.

The angels involved are angel investors; private citizens (family members, friends, supporters, and sometimes even former professors) who take a chance on a new, untested startup by providing seed capital to help them get started. To help them stay afloat until they can capture the attention of the deeper pockets of venture capitalists.

What I may not have conveyed in prior blog posts about farming is the depth of awe and respect we gained for farmers from what we learned when farming ourselves. Farmers take on the risk of weather over which they have no control, market supply and demand, over which they similarly have little or no control, and an enormous level of debt in order to acquire heavy equipment, fertilizer, seed, etc. As a salaried employee, with benefits, a pension plan, and none of the responsibility of the revenue stream, this was my first revelation of the real world. Our hobby farm taught us many valuable lessons.

I was one of those people who just went to work and tried to do her job, but history-in-the-making intervened. Computer science was seen increasingly as a platform for developing systems that would not just help people run their businesses, but also as a platform for developing innovative applications that could be used in almost every conceivable domain, from business to education to entertainment. Our economic development folks came to realize that our computer science students, graduates and researchers were a potential gold mine of new ideas for startups and a great source of future employees. They stepped up to offer considerable support, as did our provincial government at the time.

Because the nascent IT industry was taking off at the time I became involved in administration in my department, and because a university voice was seen as important to the economic development folks who were anxious to support growth in our budding IT industry, I found myself fairly intimately involved in our local economic development agency for several years. What an enriching experience. I learned many lessons, maybe the most important of which were:

How interesting, Jean. Similarly, we had a 100-acre farm just outside Fredericton (in the 70s, and mostly trees). We also had cattle, pigs, and chickens, plus bees, lots of veg, and for a few years a horse. One summer we had a late frost on June 15 and an early frost on Aug 16! The idea that our livelihood might have depended on that! The lessons learned and the admiration we gained for farmers were immense.

I read it a few weeks ago, and I have sent my copy to one of my geek Kids who you know well. While you only crop up occasionally in the text, your spirit runs through it. I think the writer read you well. Congratulations on your geek support.

to me it is about a boy i really love who got taken away by someone. that didn't actually happen, but o well! Especially in the first verse, even angels fall apart, lose hope, an finally perservere. That's what this song is all about. Get the 10 things i hate about you soundtrack!! it's on there! ahhh!! good tune.

I love this song so much, I could listen to it on repeat forever! My friends always get mad becasue I listen to it so much lol I think it means that even though life looks bad, it'll get better in time. God will always help you through your hard times, even if it doesn't seem like he is, he is. Everyone has ups and downs every day, and like I said, they'll all get better with time.
