We've talked about the following idea: The player starts out on a spaceship over a planet, and then flies down to the surface at the beginning of the game.
We've wondered about the question "What happens if you break your last robot - do you have to stop playing?"
Idea: The spaceship is nigh indestructible[1] and has engines/facilities that can do most of the things the player wants (make energy, build robots), but not very much/fast. So if you lose your last robot, the game automatically has the spaceship crank out another one. And that also answers "If
everything needs power, do you lose if you run out of power? So you can lose your progress if you just play around without building power stations?"
The spaceship could also make a lot of pollution when you have to use it (related to IRL stuff: is it good to make the player could think that "just keep using the things we already have" means "wreck the environment"? seems like it could be)

[1] it would be funny if destroying the spaceship was an interesting challenge you could pursue.
