Some ideas from Erik (a gamer) :

Scroll-wheel to switch your tool, seemed like it would be obvious.

TURN UP THE GRIMNESS AND THE DESPAIR! I.e. pollution and destruction
lasers etc. "Problem: I didn't feel bad wielding it [e.g.: the laser,
to destroy the water towers]."

The lasering-things part of the game currently seems like a silly
internet Flash game.

Rotatable refineries.

Rubble with & without ore: be more difference in color, so you can tell
the difference more

Sky color change as the air gets polluted.

Multiplayer brainstorm: different political servers? "This server is
for Libertarians" "This server is for communists".
Keeping data and seeing how people interact.

The difference between different levels of explanation needed: e.g. "how
much is a meter per second" vs "what is a speed?!" (e.g. some people do
this by age categories).

Yeah: we should make sure the sky gets visibly yucky if you pollute too much. A "whole-environment" thing to add to the grimness of being destructive. If you dump all your rubble over the next hill, maybe you can still see that the sky looks different in that direction.

Yeah, I've thought about that. The original "tutorial tree" I've been imagining can also extend backwards from its original starting point.

(I haven't responded to the things that will change anyway from what we've already planned.)
