I have the CD at home, I'll check for the version. But the very same good and bad things happen also with the game demo (google for "Championship manager 03 04 demo download" sand you should easily spot something at fileplanet and other sites). Maybe we could use this exe as a common benchmark.
Red circle around .dxw file? What do you mean?

To complicate matters there are injuries, transfers, money matters, player contracts, demanding chairmen, demanding fans, demanding players and their evil agents, the media poking their noses in, the FA and of course other managers, like Sir Alex, tapping up your best players. If you need to know any more about the nuts and bolts, we'd suggest you check out the review of CM 00/01 (or even the original Championship Manager 3 release) - after all, this is essentially the same game with a few add-ons.

That brings me on to the first main modification - manager power. Fed up of chairmen giving you the brush-off? "There's no money available," they used to say. "You run the team and we'll sort out the cash," they patronisingly offered. Well, now you can deliver a "back me or sack me" ultimatum. And in an eerie echo of the George Graham sacking, I demanded Spurs to put their short arms into their deep pockets to fund our Inter Toto campaign - and was dumped on the spot. Thankfully, I was rescued from the jobseekers queue by a plum job at Chesterfield.

The optional attribute-masking mode is a great addition, which sometimes prevents you getting a full run-down of a player's abilities. You might know if he's a good header of the ball, but his determination, work-rate and stamina will be a mystery, until your scouts have had a good look at him. The football world is packed with examples of players who were not scouted properly and came a cropper - remember Savo Milosevic of who Aston Villa manager had only seen a compilation video of him in action. And there was the embarrassing matter of the new 'George Weah' picked by Graham Souness at Southampton who had to be pulled off after five minutes because he quite clearly hadn't a clue. The same applies now - scout the players first, then buy.

Comparing two players side-by-side on screen to see who's best is also possible now. Some might find this useful, but after a few comparisons, we didn't really bother with it and would not miss it. Likewise the new memo system, which allows managers to put reminders on a players file, such as to renew a contract or look at a transfer prospect. The only modification we have yet to come across in our first three seasons is to send a player away for surgery on recurring injuries. Despite having a sicknote Anderton in and out of my team, my physio never once suggested he go away for this miracle cure.

The odd thing is, the game doesn't store your age (or any manager's age). However, there is a value for number of years in the game and computer managers will eventually retire. Additionally, you could bypass such a restriction by just adding a new manager when your current manager retires.

I did Ov, when I ended my subscription I left feedback. I did all the beta testing for FML and loved it up until the point it became a skill-learning based game, and the tactics became a skill. I guess I just love football management games and don't want to have to learn skills to do basic managerial tasks.

Championship Manager 17 is an excellent soccer manager game that not only has a detailed gameplay, but also includes the real names of teams and players. This means you can use real teams, participate in real competitions, and obviously play with real talent.

I could boast about successes, come up with convoluted tales to hide my failures, provide tips and trade ideas about how to be a better manager, or give advice on which players to sign. Others in the school would do the same, the conversation between groups acting as a public forum in which everyone was equal and everyone was listened to, and this became the perfect scenario for me to make new friends.

But your first choice, once you've set up your own manager's profile, is to work out which leagues you want to run and how much detail you'd like the game to go into. If you've got an older machine, it'll help to keep the number of active leagues relatively low and simulate the rest, although you can only take jobs from active leagues as determined at the start of the game. It's common to choose the country you want to start in, as well as a few others, and it's possible to limit the number of leagues playable within a given country.

Once that's done, and you've decided on a team, you'll be responsible for pretty much every decision you can think of that a football manager in real life would make. First of all, you'll need to think carefully about the players at your disposal and whether you want to mould a team around a certain formation, or vice versa. It's important, especially at lower-level clubs, to spend some time looking at the players' statistics--of which there are many--to see who might perform well in any given position.

One of the major additions for CM 2007 is the licensing of ProZone technology, which is an extremely powerful tool used by real-life managers to assess the performance of players in a match. It tracks the movements of the football and players on both teams and can, therefore, break down a match into its component parts. Once you've played a game, you can view it in the ProZone tool and go into a great level of depth in assessing what went right, or wrong, with your team's performance.

In terms of the long game, CM 2007 has a massive amount to offer. With the sheer number of teams you can control, as well as the option of international management, the game is almost infinitely replayable during the course of a real-life year. Manager contracts are important in the game, and your success--or lack thereof--will often dictate the path your manager takes through the world of football. Regardless of how well you do, there's always something else to achieve or a new challenge to be found elsewhere, and that's one of the delights you'll find in this kind of game.

Championship Manager 5 Solo enables aspiring managers to experience the highs and lows of football management wherever they are. Choose a club and attempt to guide it to glory dealing with everything from transfers and tactics to scouting and the media.

I once took Ipswich down to non league and several bankruptcies. Whenever they sacked me I just added a manager and took over again. I got up to around Keano 50 I think. One only lasted 11 games but in that time I managed to add -57 to the goal difference so it wasn't a total waste!

Currently doing a game when I'm trying to manage all 92 clubs. I manage for 10 games then move on to the next job. On club 9 at the moment. It's fun. I'm playing that on the switch so it's football manager touch which isn't as in depth as the PC version so doesn't take all day to play about 3 games!

Also another quirk I found was in formation. You could hide your real formation. So if you had a man marking oposition manager you could mess them about by pulling the CF to play wide right and your AMC and CF plus winger all heading for the gap. Hard to explain without screen shots.

One of my fav FM memories was setting up a hotseat multiplayer with mates on the champ manager Italia around 98 I reckon. Opening game of the season George Weah completes his hattrick to see my AC Milan tonk my mates Juve 9-0. He then hits reset on my pc and informs me there had been a power cut
