control panel, uninstall a program - and i dont have a HP Support Assistant to uninstall ? is that what you meant? (HP Everything else - but, no HIP Support Assistant listed in programs to uninstall...
Hey darkhorse123-- I think I solved the problem! The Support Assistant Window for me would pop up a couple of minutes after I booted up. My first thought was that was because Support Assistant was set up as a delayed start-up service, but no luck. However, today after doing more research on the file, I ran across a random post -- nothing to do with HP -- but which seems to have targeted the cause--the Task Scheduler.
I checked my Task Scheduler and I noticed that the HP Support Assistant Quick Start task was set to run three minutes after I booted the laptop. Coincidence with the pop-up window timing? Not likely! I changed the setting I am hopeful it worked.
Your procedure worked about 1/2 for my new HP Pavilion. I had to go back and disable the Opt In support assistant as well. The final thing that eleminated my problem was to change both end dates from 2040 or something to the day I was doing the modifications. So far that has done the trick. Sure hope it stays fixed. Support Assistant still works as well.
Sorry for the report just given. I forgot, yesterday I had to do a restore back to Monday this week and I did not check to see if I had disabled and changed the date to a good date. I just redid the date and disabled Opt In Support Assistant in the Task mgr. and I'm sure all will be ok now. Sorry I jumped the gun and reported I still had an issue. I will confirm all is well in a couple of days.
I've been having some problems with my laptop, overheating and stuff. I would like if someone could help me with this too, but this isn't the main problem. I supposed that maybe my drivers weren't up to date so i tried to intall the intel driver and support assistant. However when i tried installing it, this messages appeared
If the workaround that @Reps has suggested doesn't work, you can download the installers for the runtime libraries from here: -us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170. I suggest that you download and install both the X86 and X64 versions of these libraries.
This is odd, when i tried installing the X86 version i got the same message that i get when installing the Intel Driver & Support Assistant ("The feature you are trying to use[...]"). Also, when i closed the message, this showed up
However i was able to install the X64 version with no problems. However i rebooted my PC and i still can't install the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (keeps showing the same "The feature you are trying to use is...")
I tried installing de X86 version after installing the X86 version but it still doesn't work. It looks like its something to tho with an older version of Microsoft Visual C++ that can't be removed? I dont have a lot of experience with this kind of stuff sorry. If you have any other idea i would be glad to hear
I tried the methods 1 and 2 and they sadly didnt work. For the method one the same "The feature you are trying to use..." problem appeared when installing the Intel Driver and Support Assisant, and for the method 2 this showed up every time i open a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable program
I didn't try the method 3 because im pretty sure that that's what @Reps told me to do on 04-10-2022. I hope you can find something else that can help me with fixing this problem and ill try to answer quickly the netx time.
Sorry, im in a test period at highschool so i didn't really have time this past week. I'll try in like 1h because i have classes in 10 mins and ill try while im there. Thank you for supporting me, ill try to do it quickly.
After working on this case, we have determined this is not an issue with Intel DSA. We recommend you to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer or Microsoft to check on the Visual C++ installation. Once installed, we can check Intel DSA if any issues.
In the meantime, we can help you to manually install the drivers you need. If you would like to do so, please run a report using our Intel System Support Utility tool, you can download it here: -System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5584 laptop with 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.657 and recently installed the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) v20.2.9.6. Is there any way to configure this utility so that it doesn't load into memory at every boot-up but can still be launched manually from the Start Programs menu without throwing an error?
There doesn't seem to be any setting where I can disable an option to "Start with Windows". If I change the Start Type of the service (DSAService) from Automatic to Manual the utility won't launch correctly from the Start Programs menu (see image of error below) until to I go into Services and start the Intel DSA service manually.
I expected that the Intel DSA service would start running when I launched the utility from the Start Programs menu as long as the service Start Type was set to Manual (i.e., not Disabled). Is that incorrect? It seems like a waste of system resources to have the service launching at every boot-up if I'm only checking for available Intel driver updates once or twice a month.
I've sent feedback from the Intel Driver & Support Assistant FAQ page suggesting that Intel add an option to the settings for Intel Driver & Support Assistant so users can prevent the tool from starting at every Windows startup but still work correctly when the tool is launched manually from the Start Programs menu. This would be useful for home users with new computers who could void their warranty if they do not use the Intel drivers recommended on the manufacturer's support page for their computer model (e.g., HP, Dell, etc.) but would occasionally like to run the Intel DSA to determine if any of those manufacturer-recommended Intel drivers are out of date and could be causing an issue.
I currently have Settings Auto-check Scan Frequency set to Never but that doesn't prevent the tool from loading at every Windows startup and running in the background. For now I'll just set the Start Type of the service to Manual or Disabled and try to remember that I must still start the service manually in Windows Services before running the tool.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing HP support assistant several times, but still keep getting the same error message, something about HPSA.exe encountering a fatal error, yadda yadda yadda, end of the world everyone run screaming into the streets.
First of all, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
No matter what has happened, I have had the Microsoft fix it utility scan my laptop and it even says there is nothing wrong with it. Nevertheless the HP Support Assistant still does not work. For days now it says this and also says Microsoft is going to resolve this issue.......what is the holdup?
