Refresher
Refresher: "Two years after the issuance of an initial license, a licensee shall complete a refresher course which consists of either range qualification of his or her approved caliber of handgun or an online training course of instruction approved by the department."
Licensees have the option of taking this two-hour instructor-led Refresher Course or a New Mexico DPS-approved CHC Two-Hour Online Refresher Course.
Renewal
"Four years after the issuance of an initial license, a licensee seeking renewal of a license shall satisfactorily complete a refresher firearms training course approved by the department that includes at least four (4) hours of classroom and firing range instruction as specified in Subsection (A) of Section 29-19-7 NMSA 1978." You can apply for renewal of your Concealed Handgun License from 60 days before expiration of your license until 60 days after expiration.
Military Personnel & Veterans: An application fee and training course are not required for Military personnel or Military persons who have been discharged from military service within twenty years of the application for their initial license or renewal. Please see the information here.
