The following is a list of the various songs featured in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. Songs in italics are real songs that were edited out in later airings, but are still present in the Arabic, Dutch (except "Princess Toadstool for President"), Finnish, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Brazilian Portuguese, American Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Swedish versions.
In the episode, "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas", Ninja Man[1] plays as Mario, accidentally turned into Good Truthful Honest Giant Ninja Mario by King Koopa, fights the Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas.
In the episode "Reptiles in the Rose Garden", Mario becomes Frog Mario to find the White House after King Koopa banishes it to the bottom of the Mushroom Sea. The Frog[citation needed] plays as Frog Mario is chased by a Blooper Nanny, and later a Jelectro.
In the episode "Mind Your Mummy Mommy, Mario", Wipe Out[citation needed] plays as Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad escape from Castle Koopa with Prince Mushroomkhamen's mummy case. Wipe Out is an actual song by The Surfaris, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show.
In the episode "The Beauty of Kootie", Mario's group sprays oil at the Koopa Troopas to ward them off as Slippin' and Slidin'[citation needed] plays. Slippin' and Slidin' is an actual song by Little Richard, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show. However, the song cover can still be heard on the King Koopa Katastrophe DVD.
In the episode "Princess Toadstool for President", Mario and Luigi cross a fire pit dodging Fire Chomps, a Hot Foot, and a Fire Snake as Great Balls of Fire[citation needed] plays. Great Balls of Fire is an actual song by Jerry Lee Lewis, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show.
Sizzle[2] is played in two episodes, "Never Koop a Koopa" and "Misadventures in Babysitting". In Never Koop a Koopa, a shorter version plays as Mario's group dodges the Sledge Brothers' hammers and runs from two Fire Chomps that chase them throughout Castle Koopa. In Misadventures in Babysitting, a longer version plays after Kooky floods the Pipe Maze with lava.The Writer's Bible extra for Princess Toadstool also contains the very beginning of the song.
In the episode "Reign Storm", Princess Toadstool goes on vacation in Hawaii, where she meets a surfer named Cutter. As the two of them engage in various activities, Girls Just Want to Have Fun[citation needed] plays. The song later plays when Toad and Princess Toadstool enter the castle to stop the crowning of King Koopa. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is an actual song by Cyndi Lauper, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show. However, the song cover can still be heard on the King Koopa Katastrophe DVD.
In the episode "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel", a time travel mishap to stop the Mario Bros. from ever coming to the Mushroom Kingdom reverts King Koopa, Kooky, Mario, Luigi and Toad to babies as they travel back in time to Brooklyn. As babies, King Koopa and Kooky pursue Mario, Luigi and Toad through the streets while Baby Chase plays. Baby Chase is an extremely altered version of the original song Baby Face[citation needed] by Jan Garber, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show. However, the song cover can still be heard on the King Koopa Katastrophe DVD.
In the episode "Dadzilla", Big Mouth and Kootie Pie bring the movie monster Madzilla to life, and convince him that he is their real father so that they can run amok in Hollywood. Madzilla eventually brings the entire Hollywood Bowl to Big Mouth and Kootie Pie for them to perform their own concert, at which point they sing Gonna Stomp My Name on the Walk of Fame.[3]
In the episode "Tag Team Trouble", Burn Baby Burn[citation needed] plays in the background of Mario and Luigi's workout montage as they prepare for the Mushroom Wrestling Federation's wrestling tournament. It appears to be partially inspired by "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps.
The instrumental was played in place of the first instance of "Bad" in "King Mario of Cramalot", "Born to Be Wild" in "Toad Warriors", "Baby Sittin' Boogie" in "Two Plumbers and a Baby", "Weird Science" in "Koopenstein", "Beat It" in "The Unzappables", "Walk Like an Egyptian" in "The Ten Koopmandments", and "Money (That's What I Want)" in "The Great Gold Coin Rush".
In the episode "Oh, Brother!", a short instrumental of The Double Cross[citation needed] is played when Mario is listening to music at the beginning in the episode. In the Italian dub, The Double Cross is played instead of Brotherly Love. In the episode "Crimes R Us", The Double Cross plays as the Koopalings invade the Mushroom Kingdom Treasury, only to meet the Mario brothers there, who send them away with the help of Crime Wave Clyde. In the Italian dub, Burn Baby Burn is played instead.
In the episode "Oh, Brother!", Brotherly Love[4] is played while Luigi swims through a flooded Pipe Maze in a Frog Suit to rescue Mario, who has been captured by King Koopa and Kooky, despite their recent fight. In the Brazilian dub, this song is replaced with The Frog. This is also the only song to not be present at all in the Italian version, being replaced with The Double Cross.
I'ma Hurricane[sic][6] is played in two episodes, "A Toadally Magical Adventure" and "7 Continents for 7 Koopas". In "A Toadally Magical Adventure", a shorter version plays while Mario and Toad fight against the Koopas and the pipe creatures. In "7 Continents for 7 Koopas", a longer version plays as Mario's group reclaim the seven continents of the Real World from the Koopalings. In the Brazilian dub, the reprise from "7 Continents for 7 Koopas" was not dubbed; instead, the version from "A Toadally Magical Adventure" is reused.
In the episode "Do the Koopa", King Koopa plays the song Do The Koopa[citation needed] with the Doom Dancer Music Box to make his Koopalings and everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom dance to their doom.
In the episode "Kootie Pie Rocks", Milli Vanilli sing Blame It on the Rain[citation needed] during their first on stage performance. Blame It on the Rain is an actual song by Milli Vanilli, and has since been edited out in later airings of the show.
In the episode "Kootie Pie Rocks", Milli Vanilli sing Girl You Know It's True[citation needed] when attempting to satisfy Kootie Pie and during their second on stage performance. Girl You Know It's True is an actual song by Milli Vanilli and has been edited out in later airings of the show. The length of the second part of the song differs between the English, Finnish, Greek, American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Norwegian versions, the Swedish version, and the Italian version.
In the episode "Mush-Rumors", My Frog Suit[citation needed] plays as Mario and Luigi attempt to protect the Real World family's car from being submerged into the river by King Koopa's Chain Chomps.
The instrumental was played in place of "Shaddap You Face" in "The Great Gladiator Gig", "Shut Down" in "The Great BMX Race", "White Wedding" in "Do You Princess Toadstool Take this Koopa...?", "Hit the Road Jack" in "The Pied Koopa", and "I Hear You Knocking" in "The Trojan Koopa".
In the episode "The Ugly Mermaid", Mario has done everything in his power to avoid Holly Mackerel, and Never Kiss a Mermaid[7] plays when he has to conquer his fear of water to save the city of Mertropolis.
In the episode "Life's Ruff", Hip and Hop steal King Windbag's magic wand, which they use to turn the king and Luigi into dogs. As Luigi and King Windbag chase Hip and Hop through Ice Land, Life Of A Dog[citation needed] plays. Note that the lines in red are not played during the episode, and can only be heard on the bonus disc of the Shout! Factory DVD set.
The instrumental was played in place of the second instance of "Surfin' Bird" in "The Bird! The Bird!", the first instance of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" in "Mario and the Beanstalk", "Great Balls of Fire" in "The Fire of Hercufleas", "Limbo Rock" in "Pirates of Koopa", and "Danger Zone" in "Mario and the Red Baron Koopa".
In the episode "Up, Up, and a Koopa", King Koopa and Kooky use the Kooper-Dooper Raiser-Upper to levitate most of the Mushroom Kingdom up to Sky Land. When Kooky sets the Raiser-Upper to Chaos Mode, people and objects go flying out of control, while What Goes Up[8] plays.
In the episode "True Colors", Kooky and Cheatsy use the Koopa Color Goopa from the Doom Ship to paint the Mushroom Kingdom citizens either red or blue while Town Painting[citation needed] plays.
The instrumental was played in place of "Magic Carpet Ride" in "Mario's Magic Carpet", the second instance of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" in "Mario and the Beanstalk", the second instance of "Jungle Love" in "Jungle Fever", "Peter Gunn" in "The Adventures of Sherlock Mario", "Splish Splash" in "20,000 Koopas Under the Sea", and "Workin' for a Livin'" in "Plummers Academy".
In the episode "Recycled Koopa", the Koopas resort to dumping their garbage down a Warp Pipe to Brooklyn, where it turns all the humans into Koopa Zombies. As Mario and Luigi try to clean up the garbage themselves, the Koopa Zombies chase them while Smelly Town[citation needed] plays. In the Italian dub, Slippin' and Slidin' is played instead.
The instrumental was played in place of "Proud Mary" in "Rolling Down the River", "Rockin' Robin" in "Hooded Robin and His Mario Men", "Do You Believe in Magic" in "Mighty McMario and the Pot of Gold", "The Jolly Green Giant" in "Mario Meets Koop-zilla", "He's a Rebel" in "The Koopas are Coming! The Koopas are Coming!", and "Alley Oop" in "Quest for Pizza".
In the episode "Super Koopa", King Koopa takes advantage of his magic pendant to grant himself a Karoobi, and engages in a super-powered fight against Mario and Luigi. As they fight, My Karoobi[citation needed] plays. My Karoobi is a mild parody the song "My Sharona".
