Subject: Reminder: 11th Annual Graduate Student and Faculty Research Conference

This year’s Graduate Student and Faculty Research Conference will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the University Center. The conference seeks to foster greater understanding among graduate students and faculty about how scholarship is approached and conducted in the various disciplines. This year’s conference will take place one day after UMCUR, the UM Conference on Undergraduate Research, in an effort to bring together university researchers at every level.

Graduate students: This conference is interdisciplinary and we encourage the participation of students from all disciplines and departments! This is a great opportunity to gain professional experience and build your CV! Please see our call for abstracts for more information.

Faculty members: To make this conference successful and to realize its interdisciplinary goal we need the support of faculty. We are currently seeking faculty volunteers to:

  • Present research in oral or poster form. This can be previously presented work, work in progress, etc. The deadline for abstracts is March 12th, 2012.

  • Encourage your graduate students to present their research.

  • Chair a session. Duties include: introducing presenters, keeping presenters to their time limits, moderating the question period.

  • Be a judge. Judges attend two paper sessions or the poster session and evaluate student presentations based on a rubric provided by the Conference Committee.

  • Attend the conference, and encourage your graduate students to attend!

To register online, submit your research for presentation, find out about free child care, or to volunteer to help, please visit the Graduate Student and Faculty Research Conference website and use the links in the left-hand side column.

Any queries can be directed the conference email: GradF...@mso.umt.edu.
