Hello all,

Just in time to put it under the tree, I am pleased to announce that version 0.35 of LArray is now available.

This is a relatively small release for the core of larray but the single biggest (in terms of code changed) release of the editor ever. The highlights of this release are :

  • Support for displaying many different kinds of non-larray objects: Python lists and dicts, Pandas DataFrames and Series, Polars objects, …
  • Support for displaying many different file types (SAS sas7bdat, Stata .dta, IODE, H5, Feather, CSV, …) via the included File Explorer.
  • Allow sorting some kinds of objects by column by pressing on a horizontal label.
  • Allow filtering a few kinds of objects by pressing on a horizontal label.
  • Very large objects can be displayed much faster than before.
  • SQL Console to query Polars DataFrames using SQL.
  • compare() can compare arrays with missing labels on either side.
  • Array.plot improvements:
    • can now produce animated plots
    • can now more easily display a plot or save it to a file (without using the matplotlib api at all)
    • supports a new kind of plot: ‘heatmap

Note that the “update” link in the Windows menu has become very unreliable. Please contact me if you have any problem updating.

The complete description of changes including examples can be found at:

As always, any feedback is very welcome.

Gaëtan
