Curses!  I won't be able to attend.  I'm bummed I'm gonna miss it, too.  I've been waiting for my Raspberry PI for almost two months now.  The latest delay was the CE (Consumer Electronics) certification. Last word is it ships (to me) July sometime.  Sounds like a great platform to work on.

If you get chance, I'd loved to hear what you think of it. Enjoy!

Personally I prefer to use google groups rather than sign up for yet another site specific forum.  I'm already used to one universal login for everything, and accustomed to the google group's interface and toolset, reply through email, subscription settings etc.

What if you embed the google groups into the laroboticsclub.org website instead of transferring the posts into (what are you using wordpress)?  You get the functionality of google groups served up from you own domain name.

Click on the social tab at the top for instructions.

The San Gabriel Valley Linux User's Group meetup was quite interesting.  We got to use a small lecture hall on the Caltech campus right off of California (I'm guessing they have members that are students there).  Parking was pretty easy too.  The first half involved discussing tech news ... their group is quite vocal about debating current events.  The 2nd half was the rasberry pi demonstration.  A guy named Dan, who happens to be an ex-google employee, showed us how to power up the board, get into a full linux debian environment and even use g++ to compile a program that he wrote to detect our mac addresses over blue tooth.  He even launched x and started browsing the web with the pi connected to ethernet.  Very cool... for something no bigger than the arduino.  All and all a good introduction.  I'm looking forward to seeing this platform mature.

I found a whole series of Raspberry Pi Tutorials on YouTube.  I can't wait to get mine.

Enjoy!

Does anyone know how to edit a post topic after it's been posted? I am in communication with the inventor of the Raspberry Pi and he is going to visit us when he's out here in LA. I wanted to see if I could fix the spelling since it's being aggregated to the front page of our website misspelled.
