The original Scirocco was decent enough, the Corrado quite brilliant in an understated way, but here I want to focus on the most recent Scirocco, the one just sitting there quietly waiting to discover whether it is to be accorded future classic status. And I know no better than you whether that will happen. But I know this: it ought to.
They were so good to drive. Not in a laugh you off the road way, and certainly not in a white-knuckling, sweat-breaking way, but something quieter, more cerebral, but no less satisfying. More Yes Minister than Only Fools. Without any histrionics, the Scirocco was just very good at what it did. The engine was smooth, the steering crisp, the balance delightful and the point to point poise clearly ahead of even what the sixth generation Golf GTI was able to manage. It was a slow burn perhaps, but all the more rewarding for that.
But it had something else too, something no Audi TT could ever claim, let alone a BMW Z4 or Merc SLK. They might have the posh badges, but the Scirocco was the one that actually fitted your life better. Why? Because it not only had rear seats, they were good for more than mere additional storage space. It was genuinely quite spacious in the back, unreasonably so for a coup, and the boot was decent too, so it made sense for a young family in a way none of its more blue blooded rivals ever could.
Ive owned my 2.0 tdi dsg GT spec scirocco for 5 years now. It was a chance buy, I needed a car quick and wanted an automatic diesel. The only car they had was a 16 plate scirocco with 28k on the clock. I got it for a steal of a price. But i think back and I hadnt really given the Scirocco a thought, but when I stopped to notice, stopped to really look at it, I loved it! Then I drove it and fell even more in love. It has the ability to drive like a solid comfortable family car, but drop it into sport mode, find a windy road and boy does it bring the smiles! Its sad to think they have decided to can the Scirocco, because honestly its a brilliant car. Ive been asked a few times if I want to sell it, but my answer is always no, I just love it too much.
I've had my MK7 R manual for nearly two years and have made the jump to a Scirocco R, it's just been built and on it's way to the UK as we speak. In my opinion the Rocco R has better styling but lacks the 4wd which will put a lot of people off. I'm on my 3rd Golf in a row, so thought it was time for a change!
Ive never driven a scirocco though, for me the main point of the golf is its ability to do daily duties, for a performance/fun focused car I would choose something else (faster and cheaper, probably used)
Had back to back Audi Quattro but was tempted by the GTD and overall package of the MK 7 when released and the whole experience was an uplift except the get away traction which even with better tyres was always an issue.
This winter has been a breeze, not had to tailor my driving to conditions at all, its just see a gap and go even in the very wet, and having gone back to 2WD once, doubt would do so again. So next car up would either be an Audi Quattro or another R.
Close friend of mine has a manual scirocco R and it is good fun. Struggles to put the power down in anything but dry conditions though and is based on the old chassis tech and after driving mine concedes that the Golf is the superior car in the handling department and also in ride comfort too despite it coming with DCC as standard (mine is non-DCC on 18"s).
The SCIROCCO Exchange project builds upon the preliminary achievements of the B3 Action Group on Integrated Care (of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing) that first developed the concept of the B3 Maturity Model.
Through the activities of the EU Health Programme funded project SCIROCCO (www.scirocco-project.eu), the Model has been further refined and tested and is supported by a validated online self-assessment tool for integrated care. To view the tool follow this link.
The SCIROCCO Exchange project aims to support health and social care authorities in the adoption and scaling-up of integrated care. The ambition of the project is to maximise the value and impact of the SCIROCCO tool for regions and organisations involved in the deployment of integrated care by:
Utilising outcomes of knowledge transfer and capacity-building activities to co-design improvement planning that is tailored to the local context, maturity and aspirations of European regions and organisations.

Lovely Images - I remember that car from my youth and remember hating it as a kid. But I like it in your images - so great job.
The camerawork and lighting really gives the car some nostalgic feeling and makes it look vintage. Fantastic work there. And great attention to detail!
