Anew Teams client is in the process of rolling out, in stages, for users who are still on classic Teams client. This rollout involves installing the new Teams client for users who still have the classic Teams client, with Microsoft attempting to uninstall the classic Teams client after the installation of new Teams. This article has the timelines and details of end of support and end of availability for classic Teams client.

Admins should know that they can always move forward in the steps to new Teams Only from any other point in the rollout schedule, but they can't move backwards in the steps from where they currently are. Some examples:

The timeline for VDI in regard to GCCH and DOD tenants. The end of support for VDI for these tenants starts October 1, 2024, and the end of availability starts July 1, 2025. For Microsoft-controlled tenants, the Update policy won't be effective from September 1, 2024, and users will be migrated gradually to new Teams starting at this time.

If you left the policy controls at their defaults state of Microsoft-controlled, we'll continue rolling out new Teams according to the schedule outlined in this article, but we won't proceed with the uninstallation of the classic Teams client for some time after the upgrade.

On July 1, 2024, classic Teams becomes unsupported. Users still running classic Teams due to configuration issues or an unsupported OS will experience in-app dialog messages informing them that the client is no longer supported. These dialogs are dismissible, but will reappear periodically.

Classic Teams will remain available to use as defined in the timelines in this article. However, we highly encourage admins to update their users to new Teams, as new features are only being added to the new Teams client. Learn more in the Upgrade to the new Teams using policies article.

Classic Teams users who've had issues moving to new Teams or who don't meet the prerequisites to upgrade will still have access to the classic Teams client until availability ends. After this time, users who can't upgrade on their devices can use the new Teams web app on a supported browser instead.

A bulk installer, including offline capability, is provided for admins who want to deploy new Teams using their own tools and process and use Teams policies to move their users to the desired experience: Bulk upgrade to the new Microsoft Teams client.

Microsoft highly recommends that admins who want more control or a more gradual rollout of new Teams take advantage of these tools and functionality to begin slowly transitioning their users to new Teams now. Policies can be targeted to individual users, groups of users, or your entire tenant to give you flexibility to release to users group by group while monitoring progress and feedback.

A rare issue with the uninstall of classic Teams has been detected and to be cautious Microsoft has paused the automatic uninstallation of classic Teams for customers who haven't already completed this step. This issue could result in the Teams Meeting Addin in Outlook failing to schedule or join Teams meetings. We are actively investigating this issue and will update once it's resolved. If your users are experiencing this issue, a workaround is to use Teams to schedule or join meetings.

For customers who are experiencing this issue or who wish to perform the uninstall of classic Teams themselves and experience this issue, there are troubleshooting steps available here: Teams meeting add-in missing from Outlook and new Teams.

Hi. I opened Teams Classic recently and it asked me to switch to new Teams. So I did. I didn't like the appearance, so I checked theme config. I saw "Classic" so I was happy to see I could have it back the way it was. I chose that, and the primary interface looked perfect.

But then I joined a meeting, and had a God-awful bright white meeting window open. In Teams classic, my main interface was light grey with a blue bar at top while meetings were black windows. If I choose dark theme to get the black meetings back, now my main interface is black. UGH. Is there any way to have the classic theme actually act like Teams classic?

While the two Teams versions have coexisted in recent months, Microsoft recently outlined its schedule to phase out classic Teams on its admin site. With the end of support coming, no new features will be added going forward and Microsoft will cease to help customers resolve support issues. At this stage, customers will start to receive in-app messages informing them that their version of Teams is out of date. End of support was initially planned for March 31 before being pushed back.

Earlier this week, Microsoft outlined a host of changes that users might notice once they move to the new Teams. Some involve new ways to access existing tools, as well as several smaller features that will no longer be available: the activity tab in Teams chat, and Adaptive Card-based tabs in personal app tabs, for example.

The timeframe for retiring the classic Teams app seems abrupt, according to Ral Castan, senior research analyst at 451 Research, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, and Microsoft appears to be pressuring customers to update to the new version.

Classic Teams is one of several Microsoft products heading toward end of support. Windows 10 users will no long receive security or technical support as of Oct.14, 2025, as Microsoft encourges users to migrate to Windows 11. Microsoft will also end support for Office 2016 and 2019 application suites, and related productivity servers, on the same day.

when you say 'breaking', what are the symptoms? We are currently in a pilot phase and have the toggle switch between the old and new Teams. A handful of people have found that when using the new Teams, if they setup a new Outlook meeting invitation, the Teams meeting link doesn't populate in the body of the invite. If they switch to the old Teams, the invitation generates the Teams links fine

going back to do this, we have MS APPS 365 2308 and Win 10 and running your commands dont seem to do the trick in our setup. Even still, this is something MS really needs to address given they are close to going live with the new version

We can then toggle back to the new Teams as long as we dont close outlook. As soon as you exit outlook and open again, the Teams addin is present but doesnt actually generate a teams link in the body of the meeting request...

After trying that maneuver, I closed Teams. Then I went into Task Manager, details pane, and closed all open Teams processes. This time, when I entered Teams in the Start menu search box, the new Teams iconage came up right away. No request to switch. No question about which version I wanted. No confusion. Even so, Teams classic still shows up in the Start menu. Maybe it will FINALLY vanish when the next 15-day interval expires? Could I have been missing a simple, obvious option all along? Of course I could: this is Windows-World, after all!

If I remember correctly, Ryan Palmer's caddie made a bet last year that if he beat Jordan (using his handicap), he would have to play with Palmer in this tournament. The caddie won. That might not be exactly how it whent down, but pretty much.

They can team up with who they want, but I also think that if you don't have a partner but would like to play, you told the hosts that and they wrote your name up on a list so the other players could see who else was looking for a partner.

David Hearn did something like that this year. He basically made a social media post outlining his past success at this golf course and previous finishes and said he was looking for a teammate because he wasn't otherwise qualified for the event. Pretty sure Seamus Power picked him up as his partner.

FIELD: The starting field will consist of 80 teams (160 players). Each of the top available players from the PGA TOUR Priority Rankings who commits to the tournament will choose his partner, who in turn must have PGA TOUR status unless he is chosen as a tournament sponsor exemption.

Last year Cantlay wanted to play this tournament and needed a partner. He is a pretty self aware kid and knew he wasn't that well known or liked so he looked for the best player he could find who he thought wouldn't get asked, because that player also wasn't well liked. He asked Patrick Reed! They are together again this year.

"WITH A WIN: The Zurich Classic of New Orleans will continue to award FedExCup points and official money, and will count as an official victory for the members of the winning team. As such, both players will receive a two-year winner's exemption and an eligibility into Invitational fields, including the Tournament of Champions and THE PLAYERS Championship. Additionally, the PGA of America will include both members of the winning team in the Tournament Winners category for the PGA Championship."
