Greetings,

My name is Janie Bostic-Gibson, and I am the Project Coordinator of Special Events here at CASE for Kids, a division of Harris County Department of Education. I’m thrilled to invite you to participate in Harris County Department of Education’s afterschool robotics competition, the All-Earth Ecobot Challenge!   We believe this program is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in hands-on robotics activities during the out-of-school timeframe.

2025 All-Earth Ecobot Challenge Details:

  • Target age group:  4th – 8th Grade Youth
  • Challenge definition: The All-Earth Ecobot Challenge is an innovative engineering competition that engages fourth through eighth grade students in complex problem-solving while developing critical thinking skills and elevating their confidence in formulating solutions to real-world missions. Teams will create robots using LEGO® Education robotic kits to navigate challenges based on real-world environmental issues. The winning teams are awarded with financial scholarships and mentorship.
  • Students participate in teams of 3-5 students.
  • The competition is divided into two levels: elementary school and middle school.
  • The 2025 Ecobot Challenge theme is Package Patrol! Students will program/code their robots during the spring 2025 semester.  We have one Practice Day opportunity left on Saturday, February 22nd for teams to come learn more about the 2025 competition.
  • The culminating event will be held on April 26, 2025, at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.  Lunch is provided for all participants on April 26th.
  • The Ecobot Challenge is an out-of-school time activity.  We encourage team participants from any school-based robotics club that meets after school, scout troops, home school youth, YMCA camps, church youth organizations, etc., to join us.
  • Costs: $50 per team if you live in Harris County. Register your team to participate at www.ecobotchallenge.com
