2026 Tech and Play CS Workshops for Middle School Teachers:

  • The University of Texas at Arlington: June 1–4, 2026
  • The University of Texas at San Antonio: July 20–23, 2026
  • The University of Texas at Austin: July 28–31, 2026

Texas middle school teachers from any background can apply to join an immersive, high-energy workshop focused on sparking creativity and critical thinking through hands-on STEM activities. Dive into "Vibe Coding," where you’ll master visual logic in Scratch and then use AI as a powerful co-pilot to translate those ideas into polished projects. Get hands-on with Sphero robotics, navigating bots through precision challenges and logistics simulations that bring computational thinking to life. Harness the power of the Texas sun to explore alternative energy, building and testing solar-powered racers while learning the physics of gear ratios and torque. Participants will walk away with a full STEM kit, ready-to-use curriculum, and practical strategies for integrating STEM tools and AI into their daily lessons.

See what teachers say about this workshop:

  • "This was the most engaging, relevant, and fun workshop I've done in my teaching career." – Chevaun M., Round Rock ISD
  • "Everything we did in the workshop is something I can implement in my classroom, even though I don't teach CS specifically. This was by far one of the very best PD workshops I have attended." – Cassandra C., Northside ISD

Next Steps:

  1. Contact UTeach CS if you have any questions before applying.

  2. Apply to attend a Tech and Play workshop before spots are filled!
