to LARE Exam
Hi friends,

I have just finished reading chapter 1-2-3 of LaGro, however I am having trouble speculating what type of questions would be asked based on the 3 chapters. A lot of the information here seems quite instinctive or dare I even say common sense?
Perhaps something about the definition of "Urban Infill"? Or maybe weighted criteria?
Smart Growth planning goals? fundamental types of natural and cultural resources to be inventoried?
Not really getting/understanding what the test could be on, makes me feel like I am not taking in the right information.

Does anyone have any experience or insight on this?

Many thanks,
Lar

to LARE Exam
Hi, Lar

What you describe is the difficult part of this example - it's common sense when reading the book and it's not when having the exams.  The questions will be harder than just asking you the definition of terms. Sometimes I feel it's more like an English exam of Analogies with many synonyms and antonyms. I guess the specific question types are not allowed here. But can give you one tip - you are not only going to know smart growth planning but also going to learn how it is different from sustainable development.

You should take the lareprep exams. Those exams will help you get a sense of what the LARE test is like.
I personally thought section 2 was pretty straightforward. While they don't ask you to define things, there are several questions relating to all the items on the CLARB list of section 2 items. Just as an example you could get a question about things you should analyze on a site. And while all the answers may seem correct, you would need to make sure you differentiate site analysis vs site inventory vs hyrdological vs topographical, etc. Same with natural vs cultural vs historic resources/features. If you focus on specifically what the questions is asking, then I do think most of it is common sense for Section 2.
