I'm currently studying for section 3, and created a summary of tips found in this group (thanks everyone!):
  • Taking and retaking practice exams from LARE Prep (helped me pass section 1 & 2 first attempt): https://www.lareprep.com/
  • Reading the below books. You do not need to read these books cover to cover, but select chapters or topics that are relevant based on material found in the LARE Prep practice tests.
    • Time Saver Standards for Landscape Architecture by Harris
      • Section 210: Spatial Standards
      • Section 220: Energy and Resource Conservation
      • Section 240: Outdoor Accessibility
      • Sections 340-342: Circulation
      • Section 550: Plants and Planting Division
      • Section 800: Materials
    • Landscape Architectural Graphic Standards by Hopper
      • Environmental Factors
      • Cultural Factors
      • Security Considerations
      • Site Planning
      • Circulation
      • Accessibility
      • Planting
      • Therapeutic Gardens
      • Wildlife Habitat
      • Restoration and Remediation
      • Parks and Recreation
      • Wayfinding

      • Geotextiles
      • Paints and Coatings
      • Materials Selection Criteria
    • Site Analysis:  A Contextual Approach to Sustainable Land Planning and Site Design by LaGro
      • Skim through chapters on site inventory and site analysis, some questions refer to Section 2 material
      • Chapter 9 Conceptual Design
      • Chapter 10 Design Development
    • Site Engineering for Landscape Architects by Strom
      • Skim through the following chapters, there are some questions on topography, soils, and storm water management:
        • Chapter 3 Contours and Form
        • Chapter 4 Interpolation and Slope
        • Chapter 5 Grading of Simple Design Elements
        • Chapter 7 Soils in Construction
        • Chapter 8 Earthwork
        • Chapter 9 Storm Water Management
        • Chapter 10 Storm Water Management System Components
        • Chapter 11 Soil Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Google all topics & terms from the CLARB orientation guide. A lot of these topics are not covered in the above readings, so searching them and taking notes is helpful to cover all the bases:

For section 3, do you recommend studying specific numbers like road widths or height clearances?

I used the Lare Prep Tests and a lot of other material and did not pass section 3 but I did pass 1 and 2.first time.  I had time issue problems with sect 3.  The exam had a lot of urban planning stuff on it this time around.  I know which areas I need to focus more time on.
There were also a few abstract design questions that I struggled with.  Order of things etc. Need to brush up on that.

It's a lot of material for Section 3.
