Just popping in to say CLARB has posted the exam dates for next year. I know many of you are planning carefully to get as many sections in as possible!

So the people who passed section 1 gets screwed if they don't have 2 years of experience to even take section 4 before August? Nice $$

it sounds like people have to pass both section 1 and 4 before August to avoid retaking them in the new format in December. But do we also have to have 2 years of experience before August?

I am writing to try and clear up a few items.

- If you are a California candidate and you have not been approved to take Sections 3 & 4 due to not have the 2 years of experience and have passed Section 1of the exam please contact the CLARB office at me at rmo...@clarb.org or via phone at 571-432-0332.

- In order to avoid taking the new Construction Documentation and Administration section of the exam in the new blueprint in December 2023 -- candidates must pass both Section 1 & 4 of the current blueprint. Please visit the CLARB website at www.clarb.org for additional information on the transition.

- CLARB announced one additional chance to pass section 4 in October 2023 -- this will be the final administration of Section 4 in its current format.

- December 2023 will be the first administration of the new blueprint

please contact CLARB with additional questions at in...@clarb.org or rmo...@clarb.org

This doesn't answer your question (I'd email CLARB for more information) but CLARB just announced that they will offer two additional special Section 4 exam sessions. These will take place in October 2023 and April 2024, and are intended to help candidates who have passed Section 1 but not yet passed Section 4 (with the caveat that you must attempt Section 4 prior to October to be eligible for these extra sessions).

Sorry, just starting in this group and I may be asking too obvious questions...

I see the exam period for April 2023 is 3-16th, but is there a way to know which day a certain exam will happen before I register? For example, if I want to take Section 4 in April in California. How do I know which day/s can I take it?

Thanks!

I'm taking 3 and 4 without the experience required in CA.  Consider registering out of state so you can take the tests.  I'm registering via Washington where I have family and might move anyway.  But even if you're not, it is a way to get thru the tests before the change.  And once you've taken them (and passed) you are done forever.  Of course that puts a lot of pressure to pass!
