Hi everyone. Has anyone taken section 3 this "new format" I am curious to know what the differences have been for you all.

Thanks

I'm confused with the new blueprint - is the new blueprint 'section 3' the Planning & Design exam?

They published an equivalency page, but I am still confused if old section 3 has changed content at all.

I found an older LARE orientation guide to compare the materials they list. It is now a shorter exam by time allowed but is the same question length.

CLARB wanted to make all the new sections the same length but I hope they didn't do it at the expense of us taking this exam (same number of questions but reduced the test time). This section is known to have a lot of subjective questions so I'm also curious to hear someone else's experience from December.

There are a lot of plan types listed on the old breakdown Morgana listed above that are no longer on the new breakdown... does this mean they're no longer on the exam?

Gotcha me too. I'm currently under the assumption that is hasn't changed at all?

I took it in December. Results aren't coming out until February, so no idea if I passed. Taking 85 questions in a bit over 2 hours, after taking multiple practice tests means I don't remember what was on the exam. I do think it was more of an emphasis on site planning, I don't remember many questions on urban planning. Honestly, many questions had fairly logical answers that I didn't even need to know any material for. I didn't feel like it was all that hard, like much of LARE it's just trying to figure out what they are asking for with questions meant to be misread or misinterpreted.

I did it in December. Also no idea whether I passed or not. I didn't do the old blueprint so I cannot comment on whether there was any change. There was different types of plan related content, but not much related to the bulleted lists on the reference books (e.g., PUDS) that were hard to memorize. My main impression was that, my results of the section wouldn't change much whether I had memorized all text on the reference books, or if I had done no preparation beyond familiarizing myself with the exam format/interface. Many of the questions were related to common sense, or professional common sense, or if you are very specialized/knowledgable in a certain area, your understanding of where a general landscape architect stands.
