Does anyone else here find the shake and bake exams kind of odd and not helpful?

Some of the answers to their practice questions are wrong and the questions are poorly worded (written by someone with bad English comprehension).

Just trying to gauge how reliable this source is before I put more time and effort into that resource.

Thoughts?

Thank you

With a grain of salt.  I also found a lot of errors and stuff that just didn't make sense.  But, there are so few practice tests available so I still used them.  They were helpful in identifying areas where I could use some additional study... like if I didn't know what something was I would take the time to look it up and read about it, instead of focusing on what the question meant or why that was the answer..  good luck!

I am two Sections down and have found the Shake and Bakes pretty helpful. I haven't come across anything obviously false and no questions were directly asked on the tests, but that kind of format is my learning style (and if you know what the answer to a question isn't based on practice tests, you're closer to the actual answer). My studying structure has been: take Shake and Bake and LarePrep tests until perfected and that's really it beyond Construction Contracts. It has worked so far but again I am a visual memorizer.

Just to add on, I purchased shake and bake for section 3 about a week ago. I’ve take section 3 twice now and I can tell you about 10-20 questions actually apply to the test content. I’ve seen some wrong answers and VERY subject answers in the test as well.

What I’ve seen from the test is pay attention to the plan types, the planning and programming process, public involvement, urban planning, and sustainable design.

I am thinking to purchase the Shake and Bake or LarePrep. Which one would you recommend?

Lee,
Both S&B and LarePrep are useful, if you can, buy both. But between the two I found LarePrep to be more reliable.

Just did the S&B Section 3 exam and it was strange.  I do see how some of the information could potentially get you to think about certain situations, but the questions are often worded worse than CLARB does on the actual LARE.  I'll be reviewing the questions I missed against the sources on CLARB's reading list and sticking mostly to LARE Prep.

...and the font they chose to use drives me absolutely insane.

Agreed. Lareprep is good, or seems so. They are great at email replies. Not the quiz company. But the contact email iirc it is mark who helped me get links to the exams i bought to retake them a few more times to review past original purchase. Quiz people ( off shore at best bet) put me on hold immediately and said they'd call back. They never did.

Shake & Bake is not very good.

Yeah I tried the section 3 Shake and Bake as well (didn’t bother on sections 1 and 2) and found it lacking. I actually wrote the author a long email after taking it about how he has worded many of the questions. They were too vague to ever be answered correctly. That being said, I do feel that it helped me think in the obscure way that the LARE questions are written. In fact if you can understand the fuzzy logic that the Shake and Bake uses, you should actually do quite well on the section 3 exam (well we will see how true that is when I get the December results lol). I found the LAREprep tests to be invaluable for sections 1 and 2 and would rely on them over Shake and Bake for those two exams just going by how mediocre the sections 3 Shake and Bake was. Pretty sure I won’t bother with the section 4 Shake and Bake moving forward.
