I am writing Section 4 this summer after failing my first attempt in the spring :(

I am considering writing the exam in person this time as I think that having a hand held whiteboard and calculator would be beneficial to the way I work through grading problems.
Has anyone written the exam online and failed and then written it in person and passed? Did writing the exam in person make the difference between pass and fail?

I will have to drive about 1.5 hours to get to the closest test center, which is the main reason I have been avoiding it.

Thanks in advance!

I think its different for every person, the only times I have passed have been remote - I find at testing centers my attention gets pulled in all direction because of the amount of people taking the various exams, people come and go which I find super distracting. But if you think having a physical whiteboard/calculator would make that much of a difference you should go with your gut.

I took it remote in the spring and was desperately wishing I had scratch paper and a calculator. I'm a tactile learner and grasp things better if i can write it down. This time around I'm going to a testing center. I think peace of mind of working through problems the way I usually do will significantly outweigh the fact that I have to take the exam in a public environment or having to commute further out. I think it will be worth a shot to try a different approach this time around!
