summer film series, topica email list shutting down

In this all-purpose email: closing of old email announcement list, Dr.
Strangelove to show at the civic center, summer film series opened last
night with "The Way, Way Back".

Our old Laramie Film Society email announcement list hosted by Topica is
shutting down, so we are moving everything over to Google Groups.

The Topica email list will cease to exist by the end of this month.
Topica, our host, is discontinuing this free service, so we will be
transitioning to an email list hosted by Google, at this address:
laramie-film-soci...@googlegroups.com

Anyone is welcome to join this list. We have sent invites to everyone
on the Topica list to join the Google groups Laramie Film Society
announcement list.

So far, only 28 people from the 152 on the Topica list have signed up on
the Google Groups list, so the transition is not going to be easy.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the Internet keeps changing on us.

Some announcements of upcoming films:

The Laramie Film Society's board of directors has authorized an
expenditure of $125 to be paid to the Gryphon Theater in the Laramie
Plains Civic Center to help sponsor a film showing at the Gryphon in
September. The film is "Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the Bomb." It was the winner of our best of 1964
film contest. More on this later.

The free summer film series at the library is sponsored by the Albany
County Public Library, the Laramie Film Society and by the Wyoming
Peace, Justice and Earth Center.

Admission to the movies is free. We also serve free pop and popcorn.
All movies are on Sunday nights at the library at 7 p.m. starting on
June 8 through September 7.

June 29 -- The Namesake (2006)
July 6 -- Stagecoach (1939)
July 13 -- Cyrus (2010)
July 20 -- Millions (2004)
