Here is a preliminary list of films in the fall film series at the
Wyo
Theatre. This will be run the same as last year, every other week.
The
discount card for this series is also good for the spring film
series.
LFS members are eligible for free discount cards (officially called
Wyo
Film Society cards):

Dec. 6 The Hurt Locker

Thanks to members of this list for helping get "The Hurt Locker" into
this film series. There was resistance to this film by the powers that
be because they are leery of any war films, presumably because of past
box office failures of films like "Lions for Lambs," but here it is in
the series, thanks to some good arguments by R. Vinson, among others,
who wrote:

"My opinion on the 'Hurt Locker' is that I'd want to see it
because while it takes place during the war, it seems
largely character driven as well.. but I'm thinking Translux
(Storyteller) will probably pick it up before the film
series shows it."

This comment was forwarded to the owners of the Wyo Theatre and it
helped persuade them. Thanks, R. Vinson.

The Hurt Locker, by the way, is number one on metacritic's list of the
best-reviewed films of the year.
