Greetings fellow film fans:
Two new movies open in Laramie this week, including one of the
best 2023 movies, "Poor Things", along with the space action
movie, "I.S.S.". Poor Things, a ribald science fiction comedy,
has already racked up a bunch of awards, including Golden Globe
and Critics Choice best lead actress awards for Emma Stone.
Emma Stone will likely win the Academy Award in the same
category. Supporting actor Mark Ruffalo is also likely to get an
Oscar nomination for Poor Things, which will probably also get
nominations for direction, special effects, production design,
cinematography, and other technical categories.
Awards hopefuls in town are the sports drama "The Iron Claw" and
"Poor Things".
Some good movies in town include "Poor Things", "The Beekeeper",
"Soul", "The Boys in the Boat", "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom",
"The Iron Claw" and "Wonka".
Check the local theater web pages (links below) to see
information about upcoming movie schedules, because the lists
below do not include limited run showings in town this week,

"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001) as well as some
other Fathom Events, TCM anniversary showings, sports events,
concerts, operas, etc. Check the following web pages often to

Greetings fellow film fans:
One of the remaining Best Picture Academy Award nominated movies
showing in local theaters, "American Fiction", will be leaving
town this week.
One excellent movie opening Friday in Laramie is "Turning Red".
It is a 2022 animated comedy which has been available online,
and on disks, for over a year, but it has never been released
theatrically in most of the United States until now. Another
2022 movie, which has not been released in theaters, or anywhere
else before now, is also opening in Laramie this week, and that
is the prehistorical horror movie "Out of Darkness".
"Dune" (2021) is reopening in Laramie this week just to remind
you that the sequel, "Dune Part Two" is opening later this
month, so if you need to see Part One, or just refresh your
memory of it, Dune will be in town for a week or so (note: this
is not the 1984 Dune, or any of the other old Dune movies or
miniseries).
One new movie (2024) opening this week is the science fiction
romantic comedy "Lisa Frankenstein".
Some good movies in town are "American Fiction", "Poor Things",
"Turning Red" (2022) "The Beekeeper", "The Boys in the Boat" and
"Wonka".
Check the local theater web pages (links below) to see
information about upcoming movie schedules, because the lists
below do not include limited run showings in town this week,

as some other Fathom Events, TCM anniversary showings, sports
