Three new movies are opening this week in Laramie, including a new Tom Hanks movie, "A Man Called Otto" (a remake of a 2015 Swedish film, "A Man Called Ove" about a lovable curmudgeon). Also opening on Thursday in Laramie are the action film, "Plane" and the horror movie, "The Devil Conspiracy".

Some good movies in town are "A Man Called Otto", "M3GAN", "The Fabelmans", "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" and "Avatar: The Way of Water".

Three new movies are opening this week in Laramie, along with a Fathom Events faith-based showing of a couple of streaming/TV episodes. The movies are the comedy  "80 for Brady", the horror film, "Knock at the Cabin" and the animated film "The Amazing Maurice".

I usually don't bother with Fathom Events (adult ticket prices are a bit over $13 for fathom events) listings here, but this one is unusual, since it runs on consecutive days for the better part of a week. It is the season three finale of the faith-based streaming and TV series "The Chosen". It runs through Monday, Feb. 6 only. "The Chosen" series is shown on some TV channels (including BYUTV) and it also streams for free on the Angel Studios web page, (angel.com). The series, depicting the life of Jesus Christ, is mostly crowd funded. I can't find any reviews of these particular episodes, so there are no critics ratings on my listings of it.

The Marvel Studios sequel "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" is the major new movie opening in Laramie this week, and it will displace a number of other movies due to multiple showtimes each day.

There are some strange things happening with movie scheduling at local theaters this week. Normally, new movies open on Thursday or Friday, unless there is a big holiday in the middle of the week. This week, two movies, "Marlowe" and "Magic Mike's Last Dance" opened early. Another movie, "She Came From the Woods", that was supposed to open on Feb. 10, suddenly disappeared and "Missing" is also missing. Another horror movie, "Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey" is playing one day only, on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Regal Fox Theater. Most movies close on Friday, with the last shows on Thursday. This week there are some movies closing on Wednesday and Thursday, too, so pay attention and stay sharp out there.

The last 3D shows of  "Avatar: The Way of Water" are on Thursday, Feb. 16  but 2D shows of that movie will continue. "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" will be shown in both 2D and 3D, and the 3D version of "Titanic" will continue to be shown into next week in Laramie.

The Back Country Film Tour of short films in Laramie on Friday, February 17, are sort of free (they are asking for donations, but not insisting).
