Greetings fellow film fans:
Two new movies are opening in Laramie this week, along with three that have been in Laramie before. The new ones are the horror sequel "Smile 2" and the comedy drama, "Goodrich". The reruns are "Deadpool & Wolverine", "It Ends With Us" and "Hocus Pocus" (1993)

Like clockwork, when Halloween rolls around, lots of movies, old and new, about witches, ghosts and other scary things that go bump in the night, appear, or reappear, in theaters. This year is no different, with "Terrifier 3", "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice", "Smile 2",  "Hocus Pocus" (1993) and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) all haunting Laramie theaters.

The best movies in town are "Am I Racist?", "Terrifier 3", "Smile 2", "Transformers One", "The Wild Robot", "My Hero Academia: You're Next" and "Deadpool & Wolverine".

The Albany County Public Library is looking for volunteers to help with future film series at the library. If interested, contact Shane Sims at the library at ss...@acplwy.org or contact him at the film showing on August 18.

Greetings fellow film fans:
Two new movies are opening in Laramie this week, the science fiction sequel, "Venom: The Last Dance" and the romantic drama, "We Live in Time".

There are plenty of Halloween movies in town with "Terrifier 3", "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice", "Smile 2",  "Hocus Pocus" (1993) "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) "Kiki's Delivery Service"(opens Oct. 27) and "The Exorcist" (opens Oct. 27) haunting Laramie theaters.

While some people like being scared, or seeing people tortured, or sliced up like sushi, in a movie theater, others like watching Halloween movies at home that are less gruesome, or even funny, like "Young Frankenstein", "Ghostbusters" (and its sequels) "Edward Scissorhands", "Tremors", "Coraline", "Monster House", "Goosebumps" (2015) "The House With a Clock in it's Walls", or "ParaNorman".

Some prefer Halloween movies that are more atmospheric, like "The Others" (2001) "Nanny" (2022) "House of Usher" (1960) or "The Babadook" (2014).

Some prefer movie or miniseries adaptations, like those based on Stephen King books, including, "The Shining", "Misery", "The Mist", "The Stand" (the 1994 version, not the remake) and "Salem's Lot" (the 1979 version, not the remake) among many others.

Among my favorite vampire movies are, "The Lost Boys" (1987) and "The Night Stalker" (1978). Unlike most remakes, "The Invisible Man" (2020) is a worthy, and scarier, updating of the original 1933 classic.

Then there are the classic horror movies, which are far less gruesome and misogynistic than many modern horror movies, that is, they are quite tame by today's standards, "The Wolf Man" (1941) "Frankenstein" (1931) "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) "House of Frankenstein" (1944) and "Dracula" (1931). Most of these can be found for free on the Internet Archive (archive.org) when it gets back online.

The best movies that are, or will be, in town this week, are "Deadpool & Wolverine", "Smile 2", "Transformers One", "The Wild Robot", "My Hero Academia: You're Next", "Kiki's Delivery Service" (1989) and "The Exorcist" (1973).

The movie listings for local theaters below don't include limited run movies showing in Laramie now and during the next few days, including, "The Exorcist" (1973) "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" (2012) and "Kiki's Delivery Service" (1989) along with other special event showings.
