Greetings fellow film fans:
There is a lot of turnover in local movie theaters this week, with five new movies opening and about the same number of movies leaving town too, including the long-running hit, "Oppenheimer".

Among the new movies are a couple of promising ones, the science fiction movie "The Creator" and the comedy, "Dumb Money". A cartoon aimed at kids, "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie" is also getting better than average reviews, especially for this genre. Also opening at one or more Laramie theaters this week, are the horror sequel "Saw X" and the inspirational biographical film "The Blind".

Some good movies in town include "The Inventor", "The Equalizer 3", "Blue Beetle", "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer".

Greetings fellow film fans:
There are some free movies in Laramie this week, as well as some new movies opening in local movie theaters, including another "Exorcist" sequel, 50 years after the first one. The mega hit "Barbie" is finally leaving town this week after being here for two and a half months. It is still in the top 10 box office list as of Oct. 2.

Mountain Film on Tour will be shown for free in Laramie at the Gryphon Theatre,710 E Garfield St., at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 and Friday, Oct. 6. This short film collection is described as "a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival held every Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colorado."

Mountain Film on Tour explores themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission: to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world. It is being hosted by the University of Wyoming - Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources.

The two new movies in town include the highly regarded Spanish language horror film "When Evil Lurks" (original title is "Cuando acecha la maldad"). Also opening is "The Exorcist: Believer", which surprisingly features an appearance of an actress from the original 1973 film who is not Linda Blair. Surprise, it is the Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn.

Also opening this week, for its 30th anniversary tour, is the comedy "Hocus Pocus" (1993). Expect more Halloween-themed movies like this in the next couple of weeks.

Some good movies in town include "The Creator" and "Dumb Money".

Next week, a couple of highly anticipated movies will open, the concert movie Swifties have been waiting for, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" and the epic historical drama cinephiles have been waiting for, "Killers of the Flower Moon", directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Tickets are already on sale.
