Greetings fellow film fans:
The Backcountry Film Festival, presented by the Wyoming
Wilderness Association and the Winter Wildlands Alliance, is
showing at the Gryphon Theatre, 710 E Garfield St., Laramie on
Thursday February 22, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
The Backcountry Film Festival will be free ($10 donation
suggested) and open to the public, as a celebration of the 40th
Anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act. The festival features
a selection of outdoor films, beer, raffle prizes and more.
There are several new films opening in Laramie theaters this
week, including a modern Western that's getting good reviews,
"The Stolen Valley", and an action comedy, "Drive-Away Dolls"
directed by Ethan Cohen.
"Drive-Away Dolls" has a review embargo that doesn't lift until
tomorrow (February 21) so there are no reviews of it yet.
Other films opening this week in Laramie include the Japanese
animated action film, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba - To the
Hashira Training". I looked this up, and the movie's description
made no sense to me. I assume that in order to understand the
description, you would have to watch at least some of the first
three seasons of "Demon Slayer", a series available on the
Crunchyroll streaming service.
Other movies opening this week include the inspirational
"Ordinary Angels" and the action movie "Land of Bad".
Some good movies in town are "The Beekeeper","Turning Red" and
"Wonka".

blockbuster "Dune: Part Two", which is getting very strong
reviews. "Cabrini", a historical drama about the first American
saint's arrival in New York City and her early career building
hospitals and orphanages against powerful opposition, opens
Thursday, March 7, along with the animated sequel Kung Fu Panda
4. Also opening is a horror film, "Imaginary."
Some good movies in local theaters are, "Dune: Part Two",
"Cabrini" and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba - To the Hashira

Three new movies open in Laramie theaters this week, including
the much anticipated action comedy sequel "Ghostbusters: Frozen
Empire". As surprising as it was that its predecessor,
"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" (2021) was actually a good film, it is
totally not surprising that this quickly made new sequel,
"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" is not. Also opening this week are
the mystery crime thriller "Love Lies Bleeding" and the horror
film "Immaculate".
Starting next Tuesday, March 26 is the horror sequel "Winnie the
Pooh: Blood and Honey 2".
Some good movies in town include "Dune: Part Two", "Cabrini",
"Kung Fu Panda 4" and "One Life".
Laramie Valley Trout Unlimited presents the
International Fly Fishing Film Festival at the Gryphon Theatre,

mystery thriller "In the Land of Saints and Sinners" and the
horror film "Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2" which runs
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only (March 26-28 ) in both
local theaters.
Starting next Tuesday, April 2, is the romance "Someone Like
You".

There are some free short films in town this week at the "Wild
