It has been a while since I posted anything here, mainly because I have been spending a lot of my time organizing my CareerCamp unconferences around the area. (http://careercampinternational.org). These unconferences seek to help people "Build the Career They Deserve!"

Our next CareerCamp (our 5th) is CareerCampSFV (San Fernando Valley) on Sat, Sept 24, 2011 in Northridge.

Now that I have had a few moments to think, and also because I am an organizer myself, I want to re-visit LAOC and see if there are ways we could help each other in building and maintaining our organizations.

Here are a few ideas that have been rattling around in my mind for a while now:

  1. If your organization is career or employment-focused, please join us for CareerCamp and share your organization with an entirely new audience. You can present, hold a breakout session or just host a table with your information.
  2. My group, New Media Interchange was created to help everyone gain the benefits of New Media in their lives and their businesses. In the past this has meant seminars on online video (From Camera to YouTube at the WGA) to podcasting, blogging and more. Do your members need to know more about New Media? Let's set up a co-event.
  3. Look for other organizations around you area that could benefit from being part of LAOC. For example, I would love to have some musical entertainment at some of my events, but I need a music organization I could partner with to provide that entertainment. Any takers?
  4. Is their a group of law-focused people? Could they help other organizations with their legal questions -- informally, of course.
  5. One of my big goals has always been to share scheduling information among LA organizations, too. I think cross-promoting to our groups could help build everyone's membership and involvement.
  6. Finally, I am looking to turn CareerCamp International into a 501c3 corporation. If any of you have been through that, or know someone who has, I could really use some help. Even better, perhaps we could organize an LAOC event where that information could be shared with as many organizations as possible.
What cooperation could/would you like to see between LA Organizations? Share your thoughts and let's see what we can build together.

There is a wiki available where we can share our information and also use as a source of introductory information to new organizations. Wiki: http://laorganizers.pbworks.com/w/page/9168852/FrontPage
