Mineis python/wxwindow based, with basic audio manipulation in numpy. Portaudio python bindings for playback. Nothing fancy for search, just simple criterias, but I may add ML-based features later if they make sense.

Been trying to recall a sample manager I saw awhile back, it would analyze all your samples and organize them into these groups of node type clouds and I think it also had a sequencer built in. I guess it was more than just a sample manager, but still, trying to figure out what that was.

Good programs usually incorporate some sort of (built-in) basic editing functionality, others take it further by operating in the same fashion as a Sampler, and some even stand on the border of an Audio Editor.

That is why, as a producer or musician, using a specialized Audio Sample Manager is key. Below is a list of different options, all great in their own respect, for all price ranges.

Otherwise, any of the following will suffice; including all the fields required to stay organized, achieve musical tasks, and even exceed your expectations. It will just come down to a matter of preference.

It will take some initial thought and planning, plus a few runarounds to build properly, but within a few months you can polish it to perfection, and your chosen method will be solidified for optimum organization and thoroughness.

More often than not, this will be the only means of successfully locating a sample within your sample library when you only have a one-word description (or idea) in mind. Having everything defined, listed, and sorted is absolutely essential.

If not for me prepping him for this (outrageous) event, whatever he made on the tracks, along with its streams, and even its very existence on any platform, big or small, would have been revoked/removed overnight.

This step should always be done before you bounce, finish, upload, or sell a project. If you wait until after it will be too late, and the odds of recovering the source of each sample at that point (with any accuracy) is very slim.

When inspiration strikes, you only have a short window to execute your musical thoughts. You cannot afford to waste precious time searching through an unorganized sample library to find what you need.

I now want to let Nuendo and GrooveAgent access these external libs. Therefore I would like to set the external SSD HD path to Nuendo. However I cannot find a way to do so. I would appreciate any help or hint.

thanks, but the Libraray Manager is moving Libraries. And there is nothing in my Library Manager. So I wonder where I can set the path from Nuendo or from Groove Agent to my Steinberg Library. Even when I try to set a path from Library Manager to all my Libraries in my SSD Sample directory, the library manager shows nothing (see screenshot)

On a positive note, the load time for the project that prompted me to think about building a new system is now about 20 secs, down from 140 secs. God bless NVMe drives. And, Haliotron works now. Library manager still thinks a file is missing but it loads up in Cubase and plays.

I had the same problems last year when I got a new pc. I basically had to install all the steinberg stuff again even though they were sat on my samples drive. Toontrack were the simplest. I just pointed the plugin to the folders and authorised to the new pc. Other plugins again were more difficult UJAM one of the worst as I had to download again. You would think steinberg and other vsti companies would make it much easier.

Since I installed 12.0.30 mediabay is not showing the full installed sample libraries - I just get a few random patches instead of all the libraries like Blockbuster etc. I have all the default libraries installed - presume I have done something stupid - any pointers?

Solved (kind of):

I had to go into Mediabay and manually re-scan each library by right-clicking each library folder (under VST Sound). The small tick/check box icon then changed from grey to white.

I moved my libraries to a new disk and I updated their location in the directory manager, but when I open vienna instruments pro (as a plugin in Logic and as standalone) it still can't detect them. I updated all software to make sure I have the newest version of everything and tried on multiple computers. Seems like it should work - I can see that the directory manager recognizes the location of the libraries. Please help thanks

Try this: Please open the Directory Manager (find it in "Applications" (OS X) or "All Programs" (Win) => then "Vienna Instruments").

Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.

More information about how the Directory Manager works can be found in the video "How to use the Directory Manager".

I'm having the very same problem, and deleting the folders and re-adding them with drag-and-drop didn't change anything. I just updated all the software, the download manager, the library installer, the original VI and VE programs (although I also have the VI PRO).

Hey, all. I'm just finishing up setting up a new Mac, and having the same problem. Neither VIP or Synchron Player sees any of my libraries, whether standalone or in Logic. eLicenses are up to date, everything is properly installed and I've dragged the library locations into the Directory Manager more than once. Did you ever figure out a solution to this?

Okay, it's just not working, and I'm giving up and re-downloading everything. Ugh. This begs another question, though. Can my older VI SE libraries and my Synchro-nized versions of the same share the same sample set, or do I need to download and install both? I'm using the Synchron versions exclusively now, of course, but I have a lot of old projects that use VIP, so I'll need to make sure those are still viable.

Thanks, Paul. I got an email from Andreas with that information. I completely missed that the Synchron libraries had a different library management system. The Directory Manager did work for my VI libraries, but by the time I got the info on the Synchron libraries, I had already re-downloaded everything. All is working properly now.

Is there any solution to this by now? I'm having the same exact issue. deleting and adding the folders from the new location to directory manager seems to have no effect whatsoever when opening an instrument, the browser remains empty and I can't load anything.

I recently performed a clean installation of Mojave through a bootable usb and after the install, I installed logic (10.4.2)......logic works fine................but I had my sound library in my external hard drive which I relocated to my internal hard drive......and after relocating it to the internal hard drive I have all the sounds available for me to use but when I open sound library manager the status doesn't show "installed" to any of the sounds but only few which I downloaded again......I have all the sounds in logic......I can use them but the status in sound library doesn't show "installed"

why this problem occurs, is because all the sounds in the sound library manager have a related file in the receipts folder (Mackintosh HD/System/Library/Receipts) and this little files makes the particular sounds visible for the sound library manager............which means even though you have all the sounds downloaded and if you have deleted that particular related file in receipts folder then your sound library will not recognise that particular sound..............but you can still use all the sounds...........but the "status" will be blank.............

and there is no strict rule that you should not copy that files from someone else's Mac..........if you know someone who have downloaded all the sounds you can surely copy from them (the receipts folder also will be having some other files related to MacOS or some other applications but you need to copy only the ones related to logic)

One more thing is that by default you cannot copy any files to receipts folder because its a system folder which will be protected by "system integrity protection".............so to disable that follow the steps below..........

This is a known issue. Sound Library Manager often does not label components of a relocated library as "Installed", even though you can actually access and load patches, sampler instruments, and loops. There are two options: 1) do nothing; 2) quench your OCD by re-installing the library (which will take some time).

Actually, one workaround in a case like yours is to try to download / install a small-sized library (say, Guitar or something like that). However, if that doesn't make Sound Library Manager "see" that the complete library is already installed, it means that nothing else will, except re-downloading / re-installing the whole thing over again.

To re-install, try selecting the chunks of sound library in the Sound Library Manager's window and then clicking "Install" (instead of trying to download the whole thing at once using the "Reinstall Sound Library" option). I'd recommend going with chunks of 10-15 Gb.
