Hi everyone,

It's been a while since we did a blanket update about the progress of getting Lansing Makers Network's space open for business, so we thought it would be a good idea to share some updates.

First, a few announcements:

Board meetings have moved to the first and third Tuesday of each month @ 7:00pm. We've also moved board meetings to The Avenue Cafe (formerly Gone Wired Cafe) on Michigan Ave. Board meetings are always open to everyone, so please feel free to drop in and share your thoughts/join the conversation.

Social Fun Time has been cancelled for the time being. We'd love input as to what everyone wants for gatherings/socializing in the future, so if you have suggestions, reply to the list and let us know!

And, some updates:

We're actively pursuing a room in the former Genesee St. School in downtown Lansing to get a gathering space and workshop up and running. We're aiming for one room for the time being while we figure out what everyone wants from our community's makerspace and what the long term plans are for the school.

We're also working with a few other property owners in Lansing, trying to find the best location for LMN to grow over time (the school may be that place, but we're not putting all our eggs in one basket).  All of these potential spaces (Genesee St. School included) will need the talents and energy of the community of makers to turn them into LMN's home. Some of them would need more and others less, but if you have time and/or a skill and want to help us make a space "ours", chime in by replying to the list or posting on Facebook and let everyone know! We'll need help with everything from designing/building work areas and reworking electrical to painting and organizing.

Finally, don't hesitate to chime in with your thoughts, questions, or suggestions about where we're at in this process. 2013 promises to be an exciting year for LMN and we welcome everyone to be a part of the process.
