downhelper 4.9.21 FF v23.0.1 it's (hit and/or miss)sometimes it say 0 bytessometimes it downloads but i CAN'T move it out from browser download area. It is suppose to go to dwhelper directory but It does notUsually I just pull it out of the browser downloads area.
But then in the plugin does not work (tried restarting firefox, reinstalling plugin, etc.). If you go into the plugin configuration, there's a Recheck button in the "Verifying Companion App..." section, but clicking it does not seem to do anything.
For me, the installation of firefox beta version via snap was the solution ( -for-testing-native-messaging-support-in-the-firefox-snap/29759).
In this version, you get native massaging support inside the firefox snap package.
Native messaging support is being added to the firefox snap. Can you test that extension with the snap in the beta channel? See Call for testing: native messaging support in the Firefox snap for instructions, and please share your observations there. Thanks!
Yes this is a bug in DownloadHelper 5.3.0. Version 5.3.1 has been reported to fix the issue. This last version is under review at Mozilla but can be installed from now from -US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/?page=1#version-5.3.1
This answer is not a duplicate of something already answered, since i'm asking specifically for regarding downloadhelper firefox extension, and a mysterious problem of audio only, specific to this clip.
Vithos all that information is 2 years old. You should find it at the extension store for your browser. It's an addon. It's at version 7.40 @ the firefox addon store.
It's a sucky addon--works 50% of the time. For the other 50% it insists you download the "companion app" to this extension. I agree with algent: youtube-dl works*. When it doesn't work I activate this extension. Again, if it works.
*youtube-dl does not download if the filename is too long and I have no idea how to get around that.
While offtopic for help.osm.org, I ve seen the question asked many times. There are plenty of ways to download video from vimeo/youtube/etc. My favorite is to use a firefox extension like downloadhelper, altough there are many similar ones.
