Hi from the yoga gang in Australia, where it is hotter than it ever was on my rooftop in Sri Lanka at the moment. Fortunately we have a lake that we can jump into after class to cool off!
I have some new video software so be prepared for cool blogposts with cool videos from now on!
In this post I show and describe how I spread my shoulder blades and lift the front body in a variety of postures to support spinal lengthening. A lot of people try to 'bend' their spine or lift their chest by drawing their shoulder blades together. I show you how this can lead to squashing the spine and instead show you how to use your spine to lift your spine. It will help you in poses like trikonasana and virabhadrasana, but also in backdrops.
Speaking of backdrops, I made a few other videos about how to use a wriggling spine to dance your way into a backdrop. You can take a look here.
Take care and see you soon! Happy and safe practicing.
