The Nursing Council of Sri Lanka should govern the practice of nurses.
The Council should set and monitor the standards in the interests of
the public and the professions. The Council's primary concern should
be public safety.
The educational role of the Nursing Council of Sri Lanka should be to
set and monitor standards for registration, to provide guidelines for
education, to administer the examination and to receive applications
for registration.
The Nursing Council of Sri Lanka should provide information to
educational institutions with nursing departments/schools in respect of
legislative requirements and current Nursing Council policies.
The Nursing Council should regularly audit nursing curricula to ensure
that the implementation continues to meet the standards for
registration.
