At present in Sri Lanka there is no professional institute to
furtherance the knowledge and skills of those who are engaged in the
profession of embalming. Sri Lanka has several reputed embalming
companies engaged in embalming industry. Therefore I would like to
suggest establishment of a professional institute for professionals
working as embalmers in Sri Lanka named "Institute of Embalmers of
Sri Lanka." Initially this may be incorporated under the Companies
Act of No. 17 of 1982 and subsequently it may be re-incorporated
through an act of parliament of Sri Lanka. This would give lot of
prestige to the institute.
The proposed "Institute of Embalmers of Sri Lanka" may conduct a
"Diploma in Embalming" targeting school leavers who wish to enter
the profession, and those who are already in the profession, in order
to further enhance their knowledge in this field. 0.
Seminars, workshops, training programs may be conducted in latest
technological developments in Embalming. The following two professional
Embalmers' institutes/associations could be of help to Sri Lankan
professional Embalmers in their endeavors to establish a Sri Lankan
professional institute.
