I have searched online and tried 3 different methods. Resizing WinRe partition, won't let me resize the manufacturers partition.restarting Services did nothingRunning window update trouble shooter was a waste of time.nothing has resolved this error.Perhaps Microsoft need to push an update that easily fixes this problem. Most Windows users are not willing or skilled to try all these detailed fixes.MICROSOFT - JUST FIX IT!

Same problem here. Message is always Status: Installing - 0% and after some time message is: "Error encountered. There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643)"

Day 05 of trying to update. Still getting the error... "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643)"Please update the update so we all have up to date systems. Kind'a scary when the update is SECURITY related...

Every PC is suffering from this error, basically because the Update is trying to write to the "Recovery" partition" which by default is only a few hundred megabyte, not BIG enough. The trick that solves this, is making the "Recovery" partition a little bigger. I am hoping Microsoft releases a fix because changing the partition size, is not for the faint hearted.

had the same issue, AND I FOUND THE FIX!
So, the issue it the small size of the recovery partition.
We need to delete the partition in CMD prompt and make a new one. Here are the step by step instruction. i followed each step and I can confirm this update downloaded and just installed.

I have used Minitool partition wizard..(No promotion)I had 500mb reserved storage then 236gb c drive and another 500mb as recovery partition (the partition was in the same sequence mentioned). In recovery partition through windows disk management i found the fully free but when i went to see through minitool partition wizard i found only 88mb was free.Theni resized drive c and reduced it to 235gb and added that 1gb to the recovery partition. Then i restarted and successfully installed the update.I went through a YouTube video that showed doing these through cmd but i felt easier with minitool partition wizard.Again i say this is no promotion.. I have done what i have felt easy and comfortable...

My PC does not have a recovery partition and Microsoft recommended that it can be safely ignored. However, policies enforce by organization block me from login if patches is not applied. Could Microsoft recall this patch while fix in on the way?

A month has now passed and Microsoft has still not done anything.
For systems without RE, the update is still being offered and then fails.
And everyone else, including pure end users, are told to change the partition size manually... a joke!

Many users reported that the Windows Recovery Environment update KB5034441 for Windows 10, fails to install with error code: 0x80070643. The issue is known to Microsoft and the suggested way to fix the problem is to increase the size of the recovery partition.

According to Microsoft, update KB5034441 addresses a security vulnerability in the recovery environment that could allow attackers to bypass BitLocker encryption using WinRE. This update requires 250 MB of free space in the Recovery partition to install successfully. However, if the Recovery partition does not have enough free space, update KB5034441 will not install with an error message:

But, if you're looking for an easiest method to increase the size of the recovery partition, then you can use a free partition management tool, like MiniTool Partition Wizard Free or AOMEI Partition Assistant Free to resize the recovery partition using the instructions below:*

* Info: The C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, is the location where Windows store the Windows Updates. Many times, this folder becomes corrupted and you must re-create it in order to download the updates from scratch.

That's all folks! Did it work for you? If so, by what method?
