Competitions for Languages Week

New Zealand Association of Langauge Teachers(NZALT) are part of two
projects for ILW. They are among the sponsors for the Vocab Olympics
run by Craig Smith of Language Perfect. Starting this week and up
until the end of August students can log in to the website for free,
learn vocab in many languages and win a certificate and possibly a big
technology prize. There is even a video to show teachers how to
register their class and become involved: www.vocabolympics.com (or

NZALT is also running a Design a Banner compeition for its member
teachers' students. The banner must promote the language(s) the
students are learning. There are three categories and the winning
design in each category will receive a reproduced roll out banner for
their school as well as CD vouchers for the top three in each
