Hi all
Rather a hectic week for some of us, especially those teaching languages on their own in high schools. The Language Immersion Awards interviews would coincide with this week, wouldn't they? This is the programme at Pompallier Catholic College, Whangarei. Have fun everyone!

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES WEEK 17-21 August 2009

                              Displays in Library & Main Office Entrance

 

MONDAY: Day 5: CHINESE DAY – In form time/class time, learn some Chinese expressions (Ni Hao = Hello; Zaijian = Goodbye);

Lunchtime: Tuckshop: Spring Rolls for sale; Library: Jellybean-Chopstick Competition

Remind students about National Costume Mufti Day Wednesday. Let’s see some Pacifica outfits, too! – refer to flag poster on noticeboard in foyer by Student Centre

 

TUESDAY: Day 6: FRENCH DAY – learn some French expressions (Bonjour / Salut = Hello/Hi; Au revoir = goodbye);

Lunchtime: Tuckshop: Croissants on sale; Library: French video

Lunchtime: by ESOL room flat: Pétanque Challenge & Snail Race (weather permitting). Prizes for winners.

 

WEDNESDAY: Day 1: GERMAN DAY – learn some German expressions (Guten Morgen = Good Morning; Guten Tag= Good Day; Auf Weidersehen= Goodbye);

Interval: Courtyard: Mufti Day today – students to dress in National costume or colours of a particular country’s flag – prizes for best outfits at each level

Lunchtime: Tuckshop: German cakes on sale;

Lunchtime: German activities with Mrs.Weiherer in Rm 34;

International/ESOL Students’ Lunch – Room 13 (Bring a plate of food to share)

 

THURSDAY: Day 2: JAPANESE DAY – learn some Japanese expressions (Konnichi Wa – Hello; Ohio Gozaimus – Good day; Sayonara – Goodbye)

Lunchtime: Library: origami/paper folding activities

 

FRIDAY: Day 3: SPANISH DAY – learn some Spanish expressions in (Hola -Hello;

Buenos Dias – Good Day; Adios – Goodbye)

Lunchtime: Tuckshop; Nachos for sale; Library: Latin American-Spanish video
