One of the most neglected areas of professional growth among teachers
is the mutual exchange of classroom observations. Once you get into a
teaching routine, it is very difficult to make time to go and see
other teachers and to invite the same in return. Too often, teachers
tend to view observations as necessary while “in training” but
unnecessary thereafter unless a supervisor is forced by regulations to
visit their class in order to write up a recommendation for rehiring,
If one of your colleagues comes up to you and says, “Hey, guess what?
I was observed today,” your answer might be something like “Oh, no!
How bad was it?”
