You don't have to load all data when you first connect to the dictionary. What I need is just a search window and search button. Every time I search for a word, that is the time you load the data what I want to see. This is how other dictionaries work.

Yes, that's true.  However, we do need to get all the data into the browser for off-line use, and that's what the intention here is.  As a future feature, we'd like to make the two modes more distinct rather than forcing an off line mode.

I'll also add two other bits of information:  The dictionary does "load" when you first visit the dictionary page, but it's generally a one-time operation.  Subsequent visits to the page use a cached version of the data.  So for large dictionaries the first visit may take a few minutes to load.  This is the cost of having the offline features we are planning.  Secondly, the "loading" is non-blocking, meaning that you can browse the dictionary, add new words, search for existing words while the rest of the dictionary is loading.  This is not evident in the UI currently but you can try it for yourself.

Thanks for pointing out your preference though.

Chris
