Hello. I have converted my FLEx lexicon into a LIFT file in order to upload to Language Forge and participate in the beta testing stage. I have a question about word order.
We use the Devanagari script. In addition, we use the high dot in the word-initial position to indicate high tone. In FLEx I inserted the \u971 formula to allow the high dot to be included in the word order (so that the lexicon does not push all of the high tone words to the very end). Is it or will it be possible to insert these types of formulas in order to create these types of exceptions in various fonts?

Thank you!

Dear Christy,

Thank you for writing.  Language Forge current has a LIFT import process that imports the entire zip folder created from FLEx's LIFT export.  This includes the LDML file that Beth mentioned in her reply.  However at this time LF does not yet make use of the LDML file, so sorting is currently limited to Unicode code point sort order.

Once we have shipped the Send/Receive with FLEx feature (soon, hopefully), this will be the preferred method of importing and synchronizing FLEx projects.  The LIFT import is therefore not the recommended import strategy for your case.

We'd like to work with you and your project as we write the code to do custom sorting rules as defined in LDML,  I'll contact you again off list once the development team is ready to engage with you and your project.

Regards,

Chris Hirt
